Suspense and romance, drama and angst all in just the right place. Great plot execution, basically a reverse of irl situation where some people fantasize about omegaverse, this one has a beta who fantasize about a world WITHOUT omegaverse coz he's in love with an Alpha and in an omegaverse, alphas are meant to be with omegas (which he's not). Really, really, really goooood and the character's dynamic and relationship progress was superb wooooooh.

It's cute, it really is, and it's from sensei who is great at making this dynamic of uke and seme who are crazy for each other, however this was just not for me, when the author said that this was an idea that they had as a student, it totally made sense because everything was just so wishy washy and the issues pop in n outta nowhere, I mean that kidnapping plot was rolled 3 times, what even is that? characters are good enough but I just couldn't care much for them; Honto Yajuu is a bit wishy washy too but at least that one was episodic and I dunno just made more sense plotwise? the characters introduced were also given enough panels for the readers to be invested in them, same characters were also dynamic unlike here where they are just flat-- the seme is a horny, obsessive type from the beginning, the uke is a goody two shoes til the end, the other characters are basically just mobs who were given physical features instead of just blobs.

I first saw the sequel to this and one of the comments expressed excitement over the return of the "Japanese Hannibal" so I went to this prequel with thoughts that it's going to be psychological and it actually went on for a while especially on the first chapters when the seme was so focused on the uke running away and whatnot wahahahah; thank goodness that commenter just probably meant that the seme looks like Mads Mikkelsen who played Hannibal in a series.
Such a nice, considerate seme, and a thoughtful, clingy uke; they have suuuuuccch a healthy dynamic, the communication is just really something, specially on the sequel; though the author had notes on this prequel, I don't think the translators included it. It's so soft, and warm, and makes you look forward to growing old with someone who loves you and whom you also love back unconditionally.

2.5/5 I really like this author and I think they did a good job with this, but it feels like it's not really something that they want to do, like they're probably just given a prompt to work on something different because boy oh boy the plot for this sucks ass, it's basically cheating galore, by that I mean-- cheater uke (has bf) x cheater seme (has gf). And even their motivations for coming back together sucks a lot.
Basically, the uke's just a horntoad who couldn't get enough seggs from his current bf and was easily swayed by his ex, meanwhile, the seme is just someone looking for the most convenient partner. Regardless of the point that he (seme) eventually broke up with his gf, truth of the matter is he can't handle long distance, and the uke is just the nearest option so he's the best choice; and if he happens to be transferred for a job? or just wants to go somewhere else again? will he break up with the uke again too? it's so stupid.
They even had this idea pop on the uke's head that the reason why seme is having long distance with his gf is because she refused to break up, and that had he done the same with the seme before, then they probs wouldn't break up either, BUT in the end, you have to also note that the gf and seme did break up so clearly that tactic does not work once the LDR setup goes into action, plus why would you even offer to break up if you were just wanting to be chased and asked not too, horrible drives.
It is something else, I'll give you that, but it's just annoying, the low rating is understandable.

I've had enough of that "can't get over someone's ex so using someone else instead" trope from the previous one where the uke there was using the seme in this story to get over his first seme, and then it's replayed again here with the side seme using the uke to get over his diseased fiancee (uke's sister);
though it's much more complex character-wise, I just couldn't with the uke being childlike and perverted at the same time? like I know that combo can work somewhere, probably someone has already pulled it off, but not this. It's like sensei just picked their most preferred uke traits and blended it together but it didn't mix that well in the end. How can the uke sleep with countless people without even being curious about romance and dating? he knows he has a kink that he's quite troubled with and even went on to study human sciences for it, but it never crossed his mind to seek therapy? Like bruh, you're in the field already, you want to be better, then be better, instead of choosing to get worse and worse.
Seme here is quite the gary stu too since uke wouldn't be better if it wasn't for him, why again? cause the freaking uke isn't even trying to get better in the first place before the seme came, he just internally wallows on his perverted tendencies. Seme is also lowkey looking like he's on a rebound-- he quickly moved on after 5 years worth of relationship was over, became infatuated with the uke, and yet when seeing his ex, he still gazes lovingly at him-- at the same person who openly admitted that they cheated on him and casually asked them to break up.
All of this just makes me doubt their lovey dovey moments like, you say you love each other now, but what about a few years? guess it would work since both do communicate with each other better by the end, unlike with the main couple whom I really just can't trust to still be together if ever they become LDR again, even seeing them at the end of this work was nothing to be excited for.

it's rated lowly which I get coz it's mostly messed up plots. BUT, I did thoroughly enjoy this, I would put it on the same category as Harada-sensei's works which I also am really into. So there, not for everyone, but might appeal to some (like me).

Lol, if that's what you think, man, sure. But I really can't see much difference, there was no endorsement of Pedophilia here at least for me, in all the stories that featured it, it was never romanticized and the characters who are into it are portrayed as train wrecks that SHOULD NOT be imitated, also Harada's works might be great but they don't necessarily critique pedophilia too, ever read that one dj about Gintoki f'ing a literal toddler version of Hijikata? where's the critique in that one? or the one in immoral sex, or the one in twisted classroom, it's just as messed up but Harada is just better at weaving the narrative in their own works; all were just made for shock value (at least I hope so) and plot subversion.

cute story up until the very end with that unnecessary plot twist with ex-jerk off buddy and uke's mom, what even is that? Maybe the author ran out of pages or panels to justify that character's existence in the story, so boom just dropped that reasoning instead.

Yeah. It would have been so easy to say “don’t worry about tendou. We went to school together but he’s my mum’s bf now.” The whole jealousy arc could have been avoided or they could have had a jealousy arc with a customer or that one guy who wouldn’t stop trying to headhunt but no they choose the jerk-off buddy who’s also mums bf? Weird. It kinda ruined the end for me.

it's not historical but coz it's set mostly within shrines, they dress traditionally; it's fantasy but it's nothing absurd and it does hold its lore very well, the author seems to really do their research on the animals and the mythology of the zodiac so that's good; it's also episodic so nothing gets dragged on for too long and everyone gets a chance to have a spotlight on them.
Also as an animal lover, I really enjoyed the personification of the animals in this story, it's not sexually driven like in most BLs, they're just animals that can transform into humans, it's nice.
Lastly, the main couple-- what a good dynamic, the seme is chill by default, but since he gets possessed by the 12 animals, it's like he has a different personality each month; the uke is so cute too, eventhough he's a tsundere like his master (the cat), he's still able to convey his feelings at the end of the day instead of just acting out his frustrations.
Really nice read, nothing heavy; sure, there's a little, like teeny bit of drama but it still leans on the fluffy and light side. Instant top 5 faves.
coz the plot made me think this might have a good chasing arc wc would be nice, but the way it was executed was just meh, the comments are true, this could've been shorter if they just communicated, coz dang the entire premise for their divorce was simply due to a freaking misunderstanding. Would have been fine if the alpha was in denial throughout the story and was actually oppressive towards the uke or if the uke was some random omega who was forced to marry the alpha, then it would somehow make sense why the issue of divorce would be plausible in their dynamic, but for a couple who are close friends prior and was actually already married for months? how on earth could they not find a way to talk? they're not strangers in the first place, sure the dynamic has changed from friends to partners but surely they know each other well enough to break the ice. Nice art tho, so I guess there's that.
