You gotta keep reading, the story actually isn't confusing, but the ways that some panels are repeated (screenshot problems i think) and despite this is taken from official site, the translations are a bit choppy, it's too literal, and lack of explanation on the timeline, (when it is flashback it didn't say so). background setting and specific term.
It doesn't have novel according to baidu. Clearly this is aimed at ppl who already familiar with this xianxia genre

It took me a few rereads, too, to realise that the story told from a character’s POV (mostly Shuu’s) is SKEWED and doesn’t reflect the objective truth. I’m not sure if it’s intentional by the author or not, for the fact that the way this story unfolds makes it quite confusing for readers to follow and piece things together. It is quite interesting, though, and after figuring it out I ended up so intrigued emotionally invested into this manga lol
It’s really a good manga. You notice new things with every reread. How Shuu misunderstands Ayame. How Ayame is such an awkward mess around Shuu but Shuu doesn’t notice. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧(╯°Д °)╯╧╧(╯°Д °)╯╧╧ They’re bad for my kokoro.
