I am confused how people may think he loves Dan?! That's not love, it's ownership. He doesn't see Dan as a love interest but a toy to humiliate as we saw. He doesn't give a shit what happens to Dan. This is not love, it's about control. You don't force someone you love into something they don't want to.
I do think he likes Dan but again the love in this is twisted and his feelings are being horrifically expressed. The fact that he likes Dan doesnt change the severity of his actions at all, its clear he harbours an affection for Dan similar to like but he treats him horribly so i understand why you think his actions are nonsensical towards someone he likes.
