I was enjoying this one too. It would have been SO easy to just say:
“no. I don't want that. I want you but I refuse to hurt you. I'm going to get revenge on my dad whether you were too ask me too or not because I've been working toward that my entire life. I have always loved you and I always will. Every day that man lives, is another day I feel guilty that I have allowed him to do so. I am, and have been working toward this for so long but it has to be exactly perfectly executed, because if I mess this up, hell know my plans and he'll kill me instead, and god knows what he'd do to you.
So no. No I am not ok with this. No this is not what our relationship is because I refuse to treat you how all those degenerates have. You are not an object to me, you are my most precious person and whether it be worth it without you, I will cherish you until the day we are both gone.

But no, instead the author jumped head first into completely unnecessary abusive relationship territory. How do SO many people have such egged up views about what love is supposed to be?

I try to explain s much as I can add to why I put them there. I was thinking of making a “omg, this is not a drill, they're actually communicating people!” list lol.

I haven't read Smyrma and Capri, but I would rec other mangas by the same author. Mania, Blood Link and Taming the Tiger.
My favorite of theirs is “Tale of the Yellow Dragon.” I cried so hard reading that, it was SO good! I only just finished Smyrna and Capri and that's why I'm recommending it so hard. I also don't remember if there was any dub-non con in Yellow Dragon so I need to revisit it before I feel comfortable putting it on any of my lists. I read all of Blood Link and it's insanely adorable. They're pretty good at the whole communication and wholesome relationships things.
I'm in the middle of a few of “Brothers Without A Tomorrow” stories. They're top tier in my opinion!
Yeah the other person is absolutely right. Honestly you can't go wrong with “Brothers Without A Tomorrow” stories. “Tale of the Yellow Dragon” is one of my all time favorite stories, including all the novels I've read, and at the spread I read, trust me, that's a LOT. lol.
I also remembered that the story 2020 is extremely compelling. It's only just started so if give it some time, but the characters only really don't communicate when they're purposely hiding stuff because they're not yet ready to be that open to the other about themselves. That said, when it comes to miscommunications, they both handle them quite well.

I'm only on chapter 9 so far but personally, this is the most amazing, nonsensical thing I've ever seen. I can't wait to read it with proper translation because although the only thing I know about it for sure is that it's indescribably fucked up, I'm completely mesmerized so far.
The “love” interest is fucking gorgeous/absolutely hideous and the themes within the story are very bizarre, but the art is some of the absolute most beautiful visually depicted piece of media I have ever seen... and I'm an artist so that's saying a lot!
Wow on every level and with every last meaning the word could possibly encompass!
I understand this isn't for everyone, but I beg, unless you know you can't handle these admittedly heavy themes, please wait until we get this more properly translated before you drop it outright or condemn it, if only so someone with this much talent can develop their ego enough to put out something more suited to the masses. If the creator of this were to make a consent happy say emperor and Vassell romance, with a paranormal twist, it could be the greatest manga of all time. A somewhat less controversial theme with that imagination and THAT ART?!? instant masterpiece. I would bet money. This art is just too beautiful to not, and despite it not being for everyone, you can't deny it's concept is decently original and support imaginative!
