They said he transferred and King hypnotized him so that he wouldn't remember Ace. So no, James didn't die.
I respect the fact that we are seeing a different body type. Every manga has like slender or muscular types but I like this fluffy one the best...Just wish it wasn't so extra.
LIKE REALLY! This was getting really good with the suspense, and double/triple cross intrigue! I am so mad this got discontinued meanwhile we have a lot of meaningless drivel mangas with crappy predictable plots and annoying characters. This is a really good story with yaoi-y bits!
A manga based on Japanese historical figures is almost always difficult to understand. Mangakas usually jump right into the story because the assumption is you already know who the important historical characters are and what happened. Its like if you write/draw a manga about George Washington...we already know he kicked some English butt and became president. Its a good idea to google it just to get some historical context - that way you learn some japanese history and the story makes more sense. The translator sometimes will write technical notes so you understand whats going on but that doesn't always happen.
Am I the only one freaked out about the main character changing himself to be the ideal type for someone else and not even himself?

Me too but we weren't shown how his face really looked like originally so I don't know how much he changed..
