It's called cultural difference an example would be let's say an Indian Muslim suddenly moved to America there'd be alot of cultural differences for example views on modesty and many more it'd take atleast a year for her to get used to her new "normal". Fatima has been in the empire for what a month and she doesn't know shit because they're not teaching her shit she's only come to terms recently why people in the empire call her "princess" and put such importance onto said title cuz sienna enlightened her cuz no one else wi tell her such. And I think Ur overestimating the adaptability of humans, cuz Fatima has grown up in a society where women can only be seen as strong through their husbands it's been pushed down her she's been indoctrinated to believe so that's all she knows.
