A small theory: I think Jiheon believes Wooju is an omega and for whatever reason( any past trauma) he’s not presented after all these years and now Jiheon thinks this unknown drug might help him so he finally can make him his!(it’s a foolish thing to do though) .

TBH I’m not even sure the professor is really interested in him, it seems he has other purpose for approaching Wooju since he knew him from before! But as far as I remember, both author and readers were always forgiving towards the manipulative ML as long as he is sexy and charismatic, this one is no difference either! (Unfortunately)
