So that if Jooin's string of hope that they can be together as a "couple" snaps, Litch will think that Jooin will give up on them just like last time, but this time, he thinks that Jooin will stay with him, not as a lover. But I'm still not sure why he did that. But there are two possibilities: either he's protecting his name and Jooin, or he doesn't love him.
