I mean, I had this issue, too. But in the end we have to remember that people aren’t talking about real people. I think I got really angry because I see parallels between Dana and a mentally abusive situation I was trapped in. I was scared, I was desperate, I did bad things and I betrayed people all out of desperation. So I guess when I read people calling Dana weak it’s like I’m being called weak and when I see her called a slut, it’s like I’m being called a traitor. So we can only remember Dana isn’t us or people we know who have been abused and hope that people understand that real life isn’t always as straightforward.
My apologies once again, Ryu. I think I put myself in Dana's shoes too much. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why I acted that inappropriately.

you don't need to experience something to be able to empathize about the situation. I don't need to be robbed to know that robbing someone is wrong despite whatever reason the robber did it (like poverty for example), I don't need to be robbed to feel how traumatizing that must feel.

And to be exact, no one is trying to deny her abuse. What we're pointing is her immoral actions like cheating on your husband when you could have waited until divorced is at hand before getting physical with another man. And all other minor bad decisions she made that weren't related to her trauma.

No one's crucifying Dana for her trauma, we're calling out this characterization of a female which is very basic and questionably celebrated for the wrong reasons. No one is commenting 'oh how brave of Dana to have survived all the abuse!'.... everyone is celebrating her getting back together with Moon and calling that inspiring, amazing, brave.... what is so brave about cheating? well, it's definitely brave for the wrong reasons.

I'm not saying she shouldn't kiss the love of his life, I'm questioning her timing of doing it whilst she is still a married woman. And lets not forget, despite her 'traumatizing past' she went out everyday to seek Moon, and even had sex with him despite Dana being so traumatized that she couldn't defy her father all.

The only thing she listened to from his father's desires were getting married to the emperor, all the rest of the rules she definitely didn't follow. And that has nothing to do with victim blaming because we're not questioning whether she was abused or not, or whether it doesn't really affect her mentally or not. Does kissing someone other than your husband have anything to do with being beaten by your dad in the past?

And for you to completely disregard Dana's wrong doings by using abuse as an excuse, condones these kinds of frisky behavior. That hey, it's okay to cheat and lie, you deserve a break since you were abused.

Just because Dana is a woman, readers think it's okay that she is doing wrong things in the name of fulfilling her desires.

This is a webtoon that is posted in a public domain, anyone can read it and have opinions. Now it's up to us readers to delineate our opinions and calling an ACTUAL person insults in the name of defending a FICTIONAL character.
