I wonder if people get off on acting as if they are defending someone or something, that never asked for such and does not need it. These are positive criticism, constructive criticism and negative critisiscm. No matter what branch of media you are from and working in, if you publish, you are under the scrutinizing eye of the world now by CHOICE. If an artist publishes something, it means they are READY for everything that may come. You people are pathetic and self important people thinking they defend someone who never asked for it in the first place. Thus passively belittling them. Because you think there is room for defense. And when is room for defense? When you see a weakness. An artist is someone that only then becomes one, when they put in long term steady effort in the practice of art to learn and improve and they never consider themselves "perfect", because it would mean they reached a point where they can never go beyond anymore and are "stuck". In the art world, they pay people to give them straightforward criticism. There are even jobs for this. Just because you decide to consume something, does not mean you have to be eternally grateful and are not allowed to have an OPINION. What is wrong with you people, I swear? It is more hurtful, if people act like they like something and have nothing to criticise, while they deep down actually do know there are points of improvement, but they are afraid that you are FRAGILE and not MATURE enough to HANDLE any form of remark about your work, so they MASK the truth. People like you would be untrustworthy. A strong person tells openly their mind and a strong person listens openly to another persons perspective of reality and then decides what they want to do with that information.
