If you've been traumatized by something most often than not you'll behave in some ways that cannot be explained or accepted easily by others, it's different from "my parents are divorced and now I'll never be able to love someone so I'll treat everyone like trash" (unless it was a very rough divorce and I dare say, TRAUMATIZING)
