yeah pple should just hate the ml they are the cause of everything even if they like helena no reason to disrespect the fl to that extent that is so messed up and immature i hope helena doesn't chose one of them

At the moment shes fine but its just normal reader reaction to see every girl aside from the FL as an obstacle or bad person it seems. Personally she seems fake to me, like not just her acting but she seems like she's got some plans. She hasnt done anything tho so will have to see. I kinda want her to be evil bc otherwise I'll feel bad when everyone starts ignoring her for the MC.

So I see a lot of comments like yours so much that it’s making my opinion waver lol so I’m not really exact on my opinion and I’m sure I’ll begin to like Helena even though I mildly dislike her. Just because Helena wants to survive in their harsh world doesn’t mean she has to bring others down. A lot of characters in other stories suffer just the same but they’re not like Helena where she’s bringing Eris (is that her name I forgot oops). There was a scene earlier where Helena and Eris were in a situation that made Eris get reprimanded by the crown prince when it could have been prevented. And while the crown prince was truly at fault, Helena just stood there and watched and later on apologized after the deed had been done. For characters like these where I have to be reminded why I dislike them, I normally go back and read those scenes so I remember what exactly these characters do to the heroines we love. This is an example in The Abandoned Empress and if I were you, I would go back to read pre-reincarnation chapters in The Abandoned Empress (maybe the first three or so chapters) to understand characters like these where they’re trying to survive but end up bringing others down with them to garner pity from people in power. Sorry for this long response hahaa I’m not attacking you it’s just that I see a lot of comments like yours in stories like these when I don’t understand what everyone is saying when they’re like “Helena is good and only the crown prince is at fault so anyone who hates Helena is toxic and a victim blamer!” or something like that. I’m also annoyed when I see these comments so if you could change my opinion then please do so because I’m tired of hating characters if it’s unnecessary lol

Haha i think its nice that we can all agree that the guys are pieces of crap who cant bring themselves to respect anyone. I also hope helena doesnt choose any of them and decides to change herself for the better.

Ahh, i see, i suspected tht it was like that with some readers immense hatred towards helena. I respect that youre still holding your barriers up with helena! I would most likely have been the same but i saw some spoilers about her which obviously affects my own viewpoint on her atm. Lolol im actually hoping that she turns out to be a decent person.

True, that is a good point to make about helena not having to bring others down with her! I do agree that her method of “surviving” is scummy and i would add almost parasite-like. Though (and keep in mind im not intending to defend helena im just trying to state my opinion on what she was probably thinking as she did what she did), I am a bit conflicted since from her point of view, she probably thought that the princes support for her would waver if she had defended eris and corrected the prince. And since im assuming that she needs his influence to “survive” she probably thought that it would be best to take the scummy route and ignore Eris’s situation in order to not risk losing or weakening her strongest supporter’s affection for her. Obviously, just because im saying that this is “just her way of surviving” doesnt mean that im saying it’s okay for her to do this and that it justifies her actions. Im saying that perhaps it would be best for us to try to understand helena and her actions before spamming how much we’d like to idk drown her or burn her at a stake. I mean hell, her own mother tried to knife her in the throat when she was a child, im sure helena would have developed some sort of cold-heartedness and/or trauma from that experience. So maybe from that experience she began to weigh things in social situations differently. And note that i dont think she ever intended to bring the maids in this recent chapter down with her. That was in my opinion something that was out of her power since she couldnt disobey the queens orders with her own position as a maid. This leads me to think that the prince has been doing the same thing to her as well, just ordering helena to attend these tea sessions without her input which then sets off a chain of negative repercussions.

All in all, helena, in my opinion, isnt a saint who has done no bad deeds but shes not a downright wicked person as well is what im trying to say. She doesnt deserve to be babied nor does she deserve to be thrown into the pits of hell. She is the result of a careless and abusive parents upbringing and a victim of the struggles between the vastly different social classes. But she is also a coward which i think is probably the most hateful aspect about her character for many. Anyways, dw about the long comment lol ive got you beat by like a paragraph. I also appreciate that you didnt attack me lmaoo. Idk if this will change your opinion of her but im glad we could discuss this like reasonable people lol. Hopefully you can find a more neutral stance towards her character after reading this since thats what im currently holding rn XD

Yep yep everything you said was true. I do understand now that she can’t really defy a crown prince since she’s a maid, but I still doubt that it’s necessary to even have a relationship with the crown prince or Eris in the first place. Nonetheless, I will keep your comments in mind as I read stories like this in the future since it’s becoming a popular plot amongst some new manhwas thanks for chatting with me
