it's interesting to have byron by simultaneously so pathetic and so frightening. he's such a good portrayl of someone whose truly out of their mind. he is living a life of pure delusion. idk why anyone is listening to him other than FL. it's obvious how this will end for him.
i hope so bc right now he seems to be really powerful for someone who committed treason. like yes he as a prince with a blood tie to the throne would likely be coveted by a lot of people but after committing treason only people willing to commit treason would ally with him and usually that's very few people
honestly this feels so unrealistic. how can two people who care for one another spend years in the same home without any type of straightforward communication. idk i don't particularly feel bad for either of them. it seems like neither of them made any efforts to improve their relationship. it's hard to believe one can have that intense of feelings about someone they seemingly barely know. idk the writing just isn't there for me. i like her with the other guy but he too just seems to like her cause she's there and there isn't a ton of character development. but the art is pretty idk
The main reason for the lack of communication between them is the man. He married her with the intention of using her and bringing down her family, he was never supposed to genuinely care for her. In reality, he doesn’t care about her at all. What he has is more of an obsession; he only cares about his own feelings. Why would someone like that make the effort to communicate?
It wasn’t until she took her own life that he even tried to keep her by his side, and even then, his actions were still all about him, with no real regard for her feelings
Secondly, she had a friend by her side who clearly wanted her relationship to fail, constantly feeding into her negativity and doubts. The FL also was saw women by his side, constantly seeking help while the butler berated her. She was in a new country, suddenly in a position of extreme status, where people judged her for being a country girl. That man never truly defended her or checked in on her, and it was obvious he was avoiding having a child with her, despite having continuous sex.
To make things worse, she has trauma related to large animals, and yet half of the time she saw him, he was always near his dog which triggered her PTSD and caused her extreme stress.
What your proposing is way more unrealistic. You think that them being an adult with feelings for each other over of a shadows all the other problems in their relationship? A marriage between two ppl who don’t know each. It not like they have been married for year before for the problem show up the problem where then in the beginning. And I just listed all the reasons for no communication in the relationship to happen bro
I totally agree. Some ppl dont understand probably cuz they r too young or arent married. I think the author didnt went with a full relationship so the plot is a little meh. But the art is so beautiful.
There is a lot of things that doesnt make sense. He wake up in his house and run to church BEFORE checking her bedroom? He love her and give up his plan? But doesnt chase her like full of wish? Nah. A real person could love his wife but still would go with his plan cuz ideals come first.
The other guy too, he seems to like her just cuz the writer wants kkkkkk makes no sense... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
He didn't wake up in his house, though: he woke up in one of the rooms at the hotel. But I agree it was a bit supid how he headed for the monastery first... I guess he didn't realize he'd gone back years in time until he got to the monastery... dude never thought to ask the date or glimpse at a newspaper before running out in a panic, I suppose.
I also agree that the husband's mindset seems so flimsy and wishy washy, like he didn't know what he wanted, and practically spent *years* thinking some crap like: "Oh, I will pretend to love her and see how she returns my attentions, and if she does it well and I like it, I will play dumb with my royal bosses and spend years delaying the operation against her country.... BUT, if her country grows too strong during all these delays, and if I don't like how she acts, I'll act in retaliation much stronger than originally plan, and even kill her father!" And one day, his crap-thinking just became sth like: "Oh drats, I'm just coming back after finally making up my mind, killing her dad to "get back at her", but look at this NOW! She's *finally* paying proper attention to me! She's crying to me now, asking for my help, acting all cute and dependent and finally focused only on me, like I always wanted! Oh, but oh no, oops, I already killed her dad! Oh well... let's just keep it ALL a secret from her, and just send her away, locking her up some remote, isolated place, with whatever excuse... until things die down..." And at the end: "Oops, she's somehow found out that I killed her dad?!?! Well, she's pregnant with my kid now, so... she's surely got no other choice but to forgive m---- OH CRAP!!" So yeah, it drives me nuts with anger how he was always so wishy washy in the past life, amid all that ongoing, heartbreaking drama.
They were adults, but barely so (yeah, even if we suupose people of that age were already much more mature back in "those days"...) so perhaps that's why so many divorced people say nowadays: "(we ended up divorcing because) we were too young when we married"... as if they were saying that, you (and your spouse) marry too young, your marriage can end up falling into some bullshit pattern (some nevereding, toxic cycles). But yeah, it's hard to believe they kept at it for seven friggin years... even with the husband's secret f**ed up agenda notwithstanding.

i cry every time i read this and i'm not even mad about it. it's so good. i'm off to read the novel. i can't wait another day!
