As the mangaka said and reiterated throughout the manga, this is NOT a love story. "Hikaru" is incapable of feeling love, and Yoshiki was in love with the real Hikaru, not the current one. But the real Hikaru was straight, so that was never going to happen.

A lot of people have chosen to interpret this manga as a love story or BL, but it has never been a BL. It's like "Hikaru" himself said, he doesn't love Yoshiki, he just likes that Yoshiki accepts him and they do fun stuff together

I'm hoping that they save the village, even if "Hikaru" has to go back to the other side. Then Yoshiki can grow up and live his life the way he wants in Tokyo.

Not a zombie, the tragic love part already happened because the two protagonists loved each other but one died and got replaced by a supernatural eldritch horror. The rest of the story is more horror mystery focused about the town and its impurities but the manga remains a queer story

They asked if it was a tragic love story, I said it's not a love story at all. If they haven't read the manga at all they should have said so, because it sounds like they're asking if the story ends in tragedy. Which literally no one knows.

How did you all conclude that real Hikaru loved Yoshiki Although that would be nice, I've always thought it was one-sided

It's true that Yoshiki doesn't love the current Hikaru but the current Hikaru literally said 'I love you' to Yoshiki, no? Maybe he doesn't understand that feeling but to me it looked like he learned to understand it thanks to Yoshiki being kind and accepting to him

Love isnt just romantic? For one. And secondly his last dying thought was yoshiki and wishing he didnt leave him alone

Yep, he's dead. The evil shaman was secretly draining his energy with black magic and then either killed him off or brainwashed him into committing suicide. (The good shaman granny said this evil shaman was drains people's life force to sustain himself)
