This is a transmigration story, so our ml knew what was gonna happen in the future of the book and wanted to avoid her death. As Rosalia, she had a step brother but he was out of the picture because loans shark supposedly took him away. She assumed his identity as Antonio and faked her (Rosalia’s) death.
And now we also know, (and it was kinda hinted at in the beginning) that’s she’s from a marquis family from a different country.

i mean i did forever ago. i thought she was paying off roselia's debts and that antonio was an identity she created. the plot stayed the same if i thoguht that way until antonio showed up and i realized he was not made up haha
i gotta say i just met varabus and at this point i feel a bit bad for him. he's clearly just a man who hates himself bc he's gay royalty in a country that demonizes homosexuality. i kinda am rooting for him to find his own love interest instead of become the villain.
