And of course the dumb kid randomly almost drowned so Killian could swoop in with a grand heroic gesture to save the day.
The only actual development Killian got is:
1. I’m so grief stricken that my girlfriend and kid died right before I was about to marry another woman (grief is valid, but the entire situation was necessitated by his bs)
2. I’m going blind now, look at how sad and pathetic I am
3. I’m “choosing to let her go” mentality, aka basic respect for the free will and autonomy of his former partner and not viewing her as his property
4. Being helpful in random situations designed solely to give me a chance to be heroic/helpful

Witchery created a topic of CUFFED!

Do Korean authors spontaneously combust if they write a “romance” that doesn’t involve coercion, abuse, toxicity, or controlling behavior? If this is the mentality towards relationships in that country I understand why so many women are shunning relationships in the 4B movement.

Witchery created a topic of CUFFED!

So homosexuality is illegal and you can go to prison for it. Cop guy coerces roommate into engaging in sex acts with him to protect other gay guy from getting imprisoned for kissing another man. A totally healthy relationship which is not problematic in any way.

I have to say that while this might not be the most compelling story out there, the relationship dynamics and development are far better than 99% of the other stuff out there

Nora:avoids his parents like the plague to avoid violence ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Nora’s dad: why is my kid so maladjusted? I always ignore him to spend time with another kid and make sure to beat him whenever he shows a shred of noncompliance with my impossible and draconian expectations. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Normal people: wtf is wrong with these parents (⊙…⊙ )

I don’t really get why they’re so afraid of the marriage contract being revealed by that scumbag. Sure, they aren’t in love, but they both have full citizenship, are legally married, living together, and basically do everything that a real couple would do, so it’s not like there’s any fraud involved. Sure, it might be a bit awkward, but people get married for all sorts of reasons, to meet mutual needs, to care for an unexpected child, to have kids before biological time runs out, etc... ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Ok I get that they’re not biological or even step siblings, but could he stop referring to her as “sister” while trying to figure out how to confess to her? ┗( T﹏T )┛

Dongwook is incredibly self centered and arrogant in their relationship. The entire emotional burden of maintaining and progressing the relationship is dumped squarely on Leehyun’s shoulders. He notices Leehyun’s feelings years earlier, but says nothing and waits for him to confess, all the while playing around with women and doing nothing to indicate any romantic interest or make Leehyun confident in the security of their relationship. Despite this, Dongwook blames Leehyun for anything he does or doesn’t do that doesn’t align with his plans, despite giving zero indication of a willingness for a genuine relationship. He basically gets off on knowing that his close friend is constantly lining for him, but can’t be bothered taking any steps to solidify a relationship himself.

What is with Korea’s obsession with toxic, violent, and sexually exploitative relationships?! Blondie is presumably the main love interest, but fucking rapes Hoyoung on day 2. At first he asks for permission, then ignores Hoyoung when he says no, to stop, or to slow down. He tells Hoyoung to tell him if it hurts, which he does, only for Blondie to ignore it and continue anyway.
I’m sick of stories that mindlessly try to fetishize or dismiss sexual violence. It just means that the author is probably telling on themselves, and was too lazy to write actual characters with personality depth beyond “obsessive guy who does whatever he wants and becomes deaf when someone says no” or “vulnerable guy who is written solely to not make the first guy look like a monster, because any normal person would be traumatized and act like it”.
The reason that the bottom character usually ends up being overly physically/emotionally/personally dependent or a doormat isn’t because that just the character. It’s because they are written to accommodate the violent, controlling, and traumatizing behavior and actions of the top so that they won’t be viewed as the outright villain. If the victim of abuse actually shows signs of trauma or acts like a normal person (ex. Trying to avoid, attack, or report the abuser afterwards), it prevents the story from glossing over the cold disparity between what it’s trying to make you think it’s portraying, and what it actually is.
It’s no wonder the 4B movement took off like it did if stuff like this is common in media and mentalities

This is actually an interesting take. In most Guideverse stories admiration/dependence on esper powers puts them on a pedestal and guides are objectified as maintenance tools, but if you really think about it, people would be scared shitless if superhuman could randomly start going feral. It’s much more likely that guides would be more respected for being able to manage and diffuse those potential threats. I’m really looking forward to this story.

And now the author is trying to portray Killian as sad and pitiful. “ poor me, I’m going blind and my ex won’t let me see her or my child because I exploited and abused her so much my mere presence is triggering for her”. I don’t feel bad for him at all. Just because you regret your actions doesn’t entitle you to forgiveness

Witchery created a topic of Cupid in the Rainbow Trap

Min and Hayun would be at their 3 month mark already if it weren’t fit Hongyeon’s incessant interference (which always basically sabotages the relationship). Sure, Hayun is dramatic and immature, but most of the drama was directly or indirectly caused by Hongyeon doing a shit job of being Cupid after pushing his partner out of the situation. I’m at the point where Hongyeon pisses me off. Even without his interference with Cupid work, he has no trust in his partner, doesn’t respect his partner’s opinions/goals, and is way too possessive of him. It takes a special level of insecurity/psychosis to view a partner’s COUSIN as a potential romantic rival. The only reason the second couple haven’t stabilized their relationship is his jealous, half assed support.

I think Shubeni, the Duke’s daughter was enchanted or hexed to fear, dislike, or hate Yako by his mother so that the eldest son could steal the engagement and put Yako at a disadvantage. That could also be a reason Shubeni flip flopped so easily, though watching your fiancée leave you for dead without so much as a glance back while your ex swoops in to valiantly save you is probably more than enough to kill any feelings for the former while sparking them for the latter.
I’m also really curious if those girls were his blood sisters, or just kids around his age.

Most of the female characters seem very one dimensional, even Nanao. If you take away her trauma and affection/gratitude for the ml, she really doesn’t have a personality. They’re all Saints (pure souls who can do no wrong like Nanao) , Snakes (hateful opportunists who abuse others like Akemi), or Sheep (most of the other women who just go with the flow of more powerful people). They really don’t have individual goals or personalities beyond that. However, what is interesting is that all of their efforts, good or evil, revolve around the whims and rules of powerful men.

Witchery created a topic of Profundis

The “just kiss already” mentality from the author always makes me want to check in on the well being of the author or their partner. It’s just mind boggling that someone could look at such a violent, abusive relationship and think that it should go further, especially since they have full creative control to not do that if they so chose. It’s a sketchy thing to glorify, and sometimes I wonder if the author is telling on themself

Blonde doesn’t even actually like Yulha as a person beyond just thinking he’s cute. The only reason he’s working so hard to pursue him is that he’s jealous that his crush years ago preferred the other alpha teacher over Blondie. It’s basically a long term pissing match because Blondie is bitchy about some basic shit from years ago

I don’t understand why people keep throwing shade at her for missing her twin. He was her only friend and family member. It would be weirder if she wasn’t emotionally clinging to his memory.
