What is with Korea’s obsession with toxic, violent, and sexually exploitative relationships?! Blondie is presumably the main love interest, but fucking rapes Hoyoung on day 2. At first he asks for permission, then ignores Hoyoung when he says no, to stop, or to slow down. He tells Hoyoung to tell him if it hurts, which he does, only for Blondie to ignore it and continue anyway.
I’m sick of stories that mindlessly try to fetishize or dismiss sexual violence. It just means that the author is probably telling on themselves, and was too lazy to write actual characters with personality depth beyond “obsessive guy who does whatever he wants and becomes deaf when someone says no” or “vulnerable guy who is written solely to not make the first guy look like a monster, because any normal person would be traumatized and act like it”.
The reason that the bottom character usually ends up being overly physically/emotionally/personally dependent or a doormat isn’t because that just the character. It’s because they are written to accommodate the violent, controlling, and traumatizing behavior and actions of the top so that they won’t be viewed as the outright villain. If the victim of abuse actually shows signs of trauma or acts like a normal person (ex. Trying to avoid, attack, or report the abuser afterwards), it prevents the story from glossing over the cold disparity between what it’s trying to make you think it’s portraying, and what it actually is.
It’s no wonder the 4B movement took off like it did if stuff like this is common in media and mentalities
This is actually an interesting take. In most Guideverse stories admiration/dependence on esper powers puts them on a pedestal and guides are objectified as maintenance tools, but if you really think about it, people would be scared shitless if superhuman could randomly start going feral. It’s much more likely that guides would be more respected for being able to manage and diffuse those potential threats. I’m really looking forward to this story.
Better description: Rich man with a dubious background catches homeless squatter, imprisons him, and uses him as a sex slave
And now the author is trying to portray Killian as sad and pitiful. “ poor me, I’m going blind and my ex won’t let me see her or my child because I exploited and abused her so much my mere presence is triggering for her”. I don’t feel bad for him at all. Just because you regret your actions doesn’t entitle you to forgiveness
Min and Hayun would be at their 3 month mark already if it weren’t fit Hongyeon’s incessant interference (which always basically sabotages the relationship). Sure, Hayun is dramatic and immature, but most of the drama was directly or indirectly caused by Hongyeon doing a shit job of being Cupid after pushing his partner out of the situation. I’m at the point where Hongyeon pisses me off. Even without his interference with Cupid work, he has no trust in his partner, doesn’t respect his partner’s opinions/goals, and is way too possessive of him. It takes a special level of insecurity/psychosis to view a partner’s COUSIN as a potential romantic rival. The only reason the second couple haven’t stabilized their relationship is his jealous, half assed support.
I think Shubeni, the Duke’s daughter was enchanted or hexed to fear, dislike, or hate Yako by his mother so that the eldest son could steal the engagement and put Yako at a disadvantage. That could also be a reason Shubeni flip flopped so easily, though watching your fiancée leave you for dead without so much as a glance back while your ex swoops in to valiantly save you is probably more than enough to kill any feelings for the former while sparking them for the latter.
I’m also really curious if those girls were his blood sisters, or just kids around his age.
Most of the female characters seem very one dimensional, even Nanao. If you take away her trauma and affection/gratitude for the ml, she really doesn’t have a personality. They’re all Saints (pure souls who can do no wrong like Nanao) , Snakes (hateful opportunists who abuse others like Akemi), or Sheep (most of the other women who just go with the flow of more powerful people). They really don’t have individual goals or personalities beyond that. However, what is interesting is that all of their efforts, good or evil, revolve around the whims and rules of powerful men.
Damn, Hyemin managed to land two hot, green flag lovers while most MCs get stuck with a toxic jerk ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
The “just kiss already” mentality from the author always makes me want to check in on the well being of the author or their partner. It’s just mind boggling that someone could look at such a violent, abusive relationship and think that it should go further, especially since they have full creative control to not do that if they so chose. It’s a sketchy thing to glorify, and sometimes I wonder if the author is telling on themself
Blonde doesn’t even actually like Yulha as a person beyond just thinking he’s cute. The only reason he’s working so hard to pursue him is that he’s jealous that his crush years ago preferred the other alpha teacher over Blondie. It’s basically a long term pissing match because Blondie is bitchy about some basic shit from years ago
I don’t understand why people keep throwing shade at her for missing her twin. He was her only friend and family member. It would be weirder if she wasn’t emotionally clinging to his memory.
I don’t want them to get/stay together. Blondie and the other 3 will never leave him alone as long as he is alive. I want either mc, or the 4 to die so this cruel farce can be over. I want mc to outlive them, recover, and come to terms with the trauma. Maybe become a whistleblower for the abuses guides suffer and push for legislation to protect them. Let him smear their names. If mc dies (especially if it was a suicide), I want any survivors of the 4 to live in misery regretting the way they treated him and go insane over it. I want them to struggle to comprehend his actions and live in bitterness of what they caused. I know it’s not realistic though. Those psychos aren’t capable of remorse, empathy, or guilt (at least not in reference to their sexual “conquests”).
I hope she isn’t mean to him. He genuinely wants them to be happy together and literally moved to a foreign country to avoid any conflicts and move on
It always pisses me off when the toxic top abuses, gaslights, isolates, and blackmails the bottom, then gets shocked when they show signs of low self esteem, depression, or instability. They act hateful and callous, then get personally hurt when their victim misunderstands their obviously pure and kind intentions in an ambiguous situation. You blackmailed this man into an excruciating position of constant anxiety while disregarding his well being, opinions, and feelings. Why would he think you would have a care in the world for his safety when your own interests weren’t in alignment?! Only one person is delusional here, and it’s not the guy getting blackmailed.
ML literally could have had everything if he hadn’t been consumed by murderous jealousy. He would be a happy family with Rein if he hadn’t tried to kill Dietrich. They were never involved, dating, or engaged. They have always been platonic friends, but he just had to off him. His betrayal is what finally broke her down. She put all of her trust in him and chose to try to live a happy life with him. He’s the one who destroyed it all.
People talk about Rein being a terrible mother, and she is, but she wouldn’t have been if she hadn’t gone through such trauma. I believe she genuinely did the best she was capable of, and that’s how parenthood is when you have personal difficulties and trauma. Readers tend to expect mothers to automatically adopt a saint like devotion to their kid and parent perfectly within their means, but that’s not how it goes in reality. She is a traumatized person who was making a slow recovery when the person she trusted most betrayed her, and that trauma is attached to their child no matter how unfair it is to him. She knows that, but she can’t control the depth of her misery.
Having trauma doesn’t give you a free pass to neglect or abuse your kid, but I think readers are very harsh on any mother who isn’t presented as perfect. She wasn’t able to love him properly, but what alternative is there? She can’t change or control that feeling, so the only other option would be to put on a false persona and pretend to be a caring affectionate mother. Let’s not pretend that would be received well. She’s clearly trying to make sure he’s cared for even if she’s not heavily involved.
Faraday: “you shouldn’t threaten people to go on dates with you. It’s wrong”
Also Faraday: is actively hunting a random innocent person down to kidnap them and drag them back to his clan where they will be continually gang raped and impregnated against their will just so that his clan can have extra powerful babies instead of regular ones
He seems like the type to say he’s “such a nice guy” knowing all the dirty details of the dark shit he’s aiding and abetting in
It’s so wild that crimson wolf guy steps in acting like he will protect Martin if he’s being coerced or pushed around by Sinclair, when he’s literally hunting certain individuals to kidnap them, drag them back to his clan, imprison them indefinitely, and forcibly impregnate them.
So I like the story overall, but the main characters are so illogical. They are contracted on the premise that she must have a child. The whole point was that her bloodline might be capable of giving birth to a draconian without dying (unlike normal women). If she doesn’t prove pregnancy or give birth, she will be executed by the king. They lied about it already, which means they would need to fake a miscarriage while trying for a real baby in the meantime. I get that he’s afraid she’ll die from it, but she will die no matter what if she doesn’t show results. So he refuses to touch her at all, doesn’t announce a miscarriage, and she’s just walking around thin af when she’s supposed to be 3 months pregnant. He’s basically sabotaging any chances she has of freedom or survival while making it harder to hide their secret.
So the runaway maid put on a dress and note she can take on pirates? Wtf is that stream of logic!?
