an all-girls academy obsessed with hair. uniforms that breathe. a rose garden. a prince. yearning, hierarchy, and the promise of eternity, giving way to nothing. this manga is certainly evocative and has extremely gorgeous artwork, but it speaks in metaphors that go right over my head… i feel like everything it’s trying to say, utena probably did better lol. but i just can’t get over those illustrations. so gauzy and lightweight. 7/10

a story about a young ice skater and her mentor. a manga that is an illustrative feast - only a person who is obsessed with ice skating can create a manga like this. so much energy! and i love the main theme that a person can strive to climb seemingly impossible heights. the pacing is perfect - tense, heart-pounding, and perfectly highlighting the trust between coach and student. 10/10!

the easygoing and fierce crew of the quin zaza have their hands full slaying dragons - from chasing them, to butchering them, to harvesting the flesh and the gristle from the meat, and then keeping their finances afloat amidst the adventure. so fucking good… the dragons are mystical, horrifying, dangerous, beautiful. the crew is so endearing and the worldbuilding envelops u with its own economy and politics and recipes! a fantastic adventure. 10/10

a group of scrappers find an abandoned spaceship in an attempt to find loot to sell. instead, they find a kid’s diary setting the scene of what happened on the ship before the crash. a short read with an excellently creepy atmosphere. bonus points for the unsettling art style, negative points for the weak plot twist at the end. 7/10
