Sohan is probably the most down to earth character I've ever seen. I was opposed to him taking his father back because it clear he hadn't changed (he literally found him in a casino ffs) but I was glad to see it doesn't seem to be for stupid reasons. We'll have to see what that favor is about, but I hope Sohan understands blood relation doesn't always equal family, some blood relatives are best left behind lest they drag you down with them

Bro almost had sex with him, said "NO!", then 5 minutes later proceeded to try and kiss the guy in his sleep??? Not sure if hypocritical or just plain stupid, or both. All the progress he made trying to say "you don't do that with a person who saved you!" to a man who's clearly unwell and mentally fragile (which was good, because that boy should NOT be having sex rn) got thrown right out the window

I may have read it wrong, but I understood it that way that this guy didn’t object bc he’s righteous and thinks this is not a good thing to do, but because that the other was not as he was portrayed in the novel (shy, mild tempered or smth, just not the type to suddenly jump someone and have s3x). Basically reality was not as fiction? He wanted to see the soft, crying side of him???

Idk something like that. It was weird that he said „he had to cry“ and described how the other guy was portrayed in the novel, so he had expectations that weren’t mad and took matters into his own hands?

Maybe I’m just overthinking, but really, if he really shouts „NO“ first then sneaks up on him in his sleep for no particular reason, it would be weirder than if he just had a screw loose, like apparently everyone of the two others hahaha

Tbh I don't understand Heo's reasoning in general. I had assumed Heo was being reasonable when he said Soowon shouldn't be trying to sleep with someone to show his gratitude (especially when he just tried to off himself and was very fragile mentally), because obviously that's the correct approach; he shouldn't encourage this behavior born from the toxic relationship Soowon had, right? However, later he just had a whole 180 and remembered how much he wanted Soowon because of what he read in the novel, which is why he felt satisfaction when he saw him cry, so basically: I interpreted Heo was trying to be a reasonable person an help Soowon's mental state by denying sex since it would only make him worse, but his temptation won him over and he went back on his word and tried to kiss him in his sleep, basically doing exactly what Soowon did to him mere moments prior. That's why I called him a hypocrite/stupid, he was acting well but then decided to continue encouraging Soowon's weird complex because he's probably obsessed with him, they're both very unhealthy tbh

Mannnn I haven't liked a story so much in a hot minute! Can't wait for the side stories

Ash The Sex Lord be wildin' bro

Whitesnake April 6, 2024 6:29 am

I understand it wasn't really the younger bro's fault, but it still feels scummy that he took his brother's beloved for himself— at least he was aware of it, although dying was not a punishment, he just got his guilt cut short while still getting to live a happy life for the time he had. Also it seems that Hirono and the other dude got together in the end?? At least that's what I got from the afterword, since the og ending just looked like they became good friends?? That feels kinda bad idk, like he's some sort of rebound; one twin died so the guy snatched the other one??

For the second story: fuck Sei bro. Idek what was going through his head still, the cheating was his wife's fault, and yet he took it out on Ruka, got Ruka to like him and them just dipped?? He also forgave his cheating wife?????? Hello????? Tbh it was for the best, the trash took itself out and went to live with the other trash it was married to, a match made in a fucking dumpster; bartender beta was a better choice but he barely got any character development other than in the afterword a little bit

...Did I just read 3 chapters of romanticized rape, coercion and blackmail? Well ig I should pay better attention to the reviews next time..

Whitesnake April 5, 2024 12:26 pm

I'm 99% sure duke is gonna be endgame, which is the clichê bad boy vs perfect prince kinda romance trope that you can see coming from a mile away. Ofc tho I get attached to the one guy who's forgotten: poor Cedric, probably the only one who hasn't harassed Maythan so far, but ig authors are allergic to good male leads.
Besides that, poor Rosie don't deserve this shit man, she's way too focused on Kael as expected, but pls just go be with your woman already, she's waiting for you

Came here looking for theories on the latest chapter, found people discussing about the BL tag?? It's not that big a deal y'all— if you can only ever read a story because there's gay in it, it says more about how you see homosexuality as a genre/trope (like horror or rivals to lovers) rather than an aspect of a character's being, which doesn't always have to be the main focus of the plot, and care little about the beautiful story and world-building the author made for us. Being gay isn't always a genre y'all!

    Zypel March 14, 2024 7:08 pm

I don't think they care if that story is about gays or not but the fact that it was heavy implied that they had feelings for each other at the start and now it's like nothing happend. Like the author was queer baiting which is fucking weird and should never be done but idk about it maybe it'll be back. If not then it's a bit weird

Anyone that thinks this has poor reading comprehension. Yes, Yoshiki had a crush on Hikaru but he's dead (hence the title). Hikaru was straight. These points are very clear. Whether Yoshiki likes "Hikaru" is up for debate, but it's not the focus of the story.

I never said it's the focus but that giving sth to the story and then making it disappear is weird. That's all. I am just trying to understand ppl that have problem with it, both sides yk?

Was hikari straight tho? In one instance that I remember when he's about to die and meet the entity, he said something Liek he need to tell Yoshiki his feeling or something. But I might be tripping.

Hikaru isn't straight, did we read the same manga? He couldn't confess his feelings to Yoshiki before he finished the ritual, otherwise Brainsnatcher would've spirited the real Yoshiki away and taken his place. The whole reason 'Hikaru' is listening to Yoshiki is because he copied real Hikaru's memories, together with the love he had for Yoshiki. They straight up mention this multiple times throughout the story. I think you really should reread this lmao

Omg yes!!!! Are we the only two actually comprehending this story!? People need to slow down or re-read. Well said! Other than that point though, the commenter is spot on that Yoshiki liked Hikaru not the fake Hikaru. Sad to see so many people acting like it’s queer bating because they got this idea in their head Yoshiki and fake Hikaru were going to be a couple. In the first place, it doesn’t even make sense for the story, it’s not been a romance but a horror manga. It’s like people are disregarding the actual text and characters with this one track mind and then are confused the story isn’t what they thought it was going to be. There has been no rug pull. If people read the authors other oneshot on here maybe they’d get a better idea of their writing style. It’s was never going to be “romantic”

I feel like the fact that he knew 'Hikaru' is a fake obliterated any feelings he could have for him, the love Yoshiki feels is for the fragments of real Hikaru that sometimes peek through. I feel like that's where the most biting part of the horror of it all comes from. The person he loved is gone forever and only this eldritch facsimile is left, he finds out their love was mutual but it came to a tragic end before it could even happen. The worst part of it all, he's the only one in their community that knows, he has to continue living this lie until he decides what to do about it. For me the most interesting part isn't the supernatural aspect or the history of their home town, but what Yoshiki decides to do in the end. Will he keep living with this fake that holds and prolongs Hikaru's memory, lying to everyone around, trying his best to keep its fleeting existence from slipping through his fingers, conversely prolonging his agony? Will he get rid of it and return it to the mountain, he himself killing Hikaru a second time, freeing himself from the anxiety and pain but ultimately having to let Hikaru go and come to terms with his death? The fact that 'Hikaru' is so unstable and unpredictable just makes it better, reminding you each time that he's not human and can't just become one even if he has a desire to learn. Having them end up together would be imo cheap and would only bring suffering to Yoshiki, since he, most of all, is painfully aware 'Hikaru' is not the one he loved.

I think this is how youngwon got that scar on his neck, he prob got turned into a zombie during one of the previous loops and got killed by hohyun by slashing his neck

I'm so depressed there weren't stories between the teacher and the older brother, I thought the whole "this'll be the last time we meet" was foreshadowing that they were gonna get together orz
