The depiction of the complicated and enmeshed nature of abuse was done in such an efficient and fantastic manner. It's hard to leave or hate someone when you learned to love them first.

I really like that they made Dominic out to be her over protective father/brother/uncle/sword and not another rival. I also like that the other male leads don't play a big role either and aren't even presented as rivals.

My biggest pet peeve for all "I'm going to leave the ML" stories is that the FL keeps mentioning over and over that she's going to disappear/not get involved AND YET behaves in a way that does the opposite.
The line stating "I don't want to be with him, but I don't want him to get hurt either" or whatever made me rolllllll my eyes because if you truly wanted to stick to your goal, you would've known logically he's obviously ok. Also did he not bathe or did he break dance in the assassin's blood to remain all stanky??

and I really like that they made Theo a flawed character who avoids tough conversations because he's afraid of the outcome and is incredibly emotionally stunted.

yeessss. so many stories make emotionally-constipated men out to be dark and mysterious with this whole "alpha male" persona, but i think its really refreshing that they made theo awkward and a little creepy lol
