paradise scans are not official translations. because it takes time and effort to translate these things, i’m not surprised it isn’t free. i think that it’s likely legal, but i’m personally not sure. i don’t know why they use crypto, and like you said that does sound fishy. i haven’t bought anything from them, so it’s safer to just wait for the chapters to be posted for free.
Well scanslating is not a legal practice to begin with, as "hamless" it may seem it's still piracy, but at least it's free.
It has been one of the founding excuses for manga and anime piracy since the beginnings: making stuff available to those who cannot access (be it financially or geographically).

Sure you put your time into translation, but it's still unlicensed by the original publisher. You can't ask money for something that is not yours..
They're not official. Whether you want to spend money or not is up to you - look at Crunchyroll and I don't think they even did the translations themselves.

I don't know if Crunchyroll has internal translators or uses contractors, they are licensed distributors, so they have legal rights to make you pay to watch. Rights earned from the media producers by paying for the product.
Fan translation can exist but you can't legally earn money from it. You have no rights and authorization to commercialize and make money with content that is not yours.

I suppose you didn't see my follow up comment. Crunchyroll used to be a pirate website and hosted FANsubs they scrapped off the internet. It was an aggregator like any other illegal anime streaming site. And people paid money when it was in its piracy phase.
Kudos for Crunchyroll going legitimate after getting enough money - I doubt Paradise Scans or other similar platforms would do that.
