I remember reading the novel a long time ago and it was great, well-written and really hit me in my feels. This manhwa adaptation really did ruin it, especially for international audiences. The novel didn’t have many chapters translated to English so this manhwa is basically the impression everyone has of this story. And well clearly the writing in this manhwa is awful.
Also it’s a shame I don’t know what happened but novelupdates spoiler forums seem to be disappearing, I couldn’t find it anymore for this novel and another novel.
I was almost misled by the spoilers here. I did in fact read the entirety of this manhwa. Or nearly all of it. I was skimming parts to the point I didn’t really read it.
No the og fl mom did not brainwash the duke. He is simply trash. He knew that his first wife was scared of blood, he said himself he’s not stupid to not know after 3 years living together. He covered up the murders for the original culprit for the sole purpose of framing his first wife. So a terrible husband and lord to his people. He purposely killed his innocent first wife to make his love story a grand epic and even continued every year hosting an opera of this story of their love and her villainy.
Og fl mom is the author of the story and went along with her plot knowing that first wife was innocent of the murders. She didn’t change the story really until later on when her daughter wasn’t living the main character life she wrote.

Guys the spoilers the other person posted twist the story.
1. Perry died almost immediately after she entered the tower at 3 years old. This caused her hair to turn black since corpses don’t retain mana and that was her original body. All her bodies since then have been her transferring her consciousness inside her clay dolls.
2. The holy empress/adoptive mother IS NOT behind everything. The adoptive mother originally collaborated with Roxar in the experiments to create weapons against monsters. She later met the MC and planned for a year to kill everyone and save the MC.
3. A change between the novel and manhwa I find important to note. In the novel, the MC’s bio dad drugged her again and again with the memory wiping tea for a week until she agreed to be a lady-in-waiting.
4. Another change is that Pandarion is a lot nicer to the MC in the manhwa whereas he was an asshole to MC in the novel. MC hated him in the novel and the point was that the whole family was irredeemable and the MC hated all of them including him.
5. MC considers herself to have two mothers, bio mom Alice and adoptive mom holy empress. They later are chosen by MC to be the two gods that watch over the world. In MC’s words, in her eyes, her mothers are her gods.
6. Bio mom is dead. A fragment of her survived in the very first doll MC made. Namely the one that she showed bio dad in front the of imposter dad which got her kicked out. Then she was thrown into the ocean by bio dad.. yeah. And then bio mom climbed out of the ocean bit by bit and fought the dragons for 20 years eventually killing them all and becoming a god selected by MC. Dragons were behind killing her to get to MC.
7. Bio mom basically gets revenge for MC and torments her trash ex husband and their sons. She resents them.
8. The MC was born a saint with holy powers to choose a god for a world that lost its god. Hence why it overpowers the dragon bloodline to give her brown hair when she has mana. Whereas once mana is exhausted her hair turns back to black. Original god overworked themselves to death out of love for humans.
9. This is not romance. Yes the MC kissed both of them but she doesn’t choose or have confess feelings for either. She treats them both equally. But ML is the white hair and the black hair is 2nd ML. She prefers the ML but also can’t abandon the 2nd is the vibe. She doesn’t like either enough to choose one over the other. She gives them both her back up bodies and dips.
10. The ending is like female friendship and family. She just sends the two updates via the dolls and adventures with her friends and mom.
The other spoilers gets some things wrong so this is the correction. The spoilers aren’t in any particular order just saying.

I’m kinda confused why he kept using the name when it really did seem like he’d change it.

It’s kind of interesting that all three of them are involved in the MC’s suicide.
If I’m not mistaken,
The black hair caused it by being weak and powerless to prevent himself from getting controlled and manipulated by his own family, which led to him impregnating another omega and betraying his lover. If he couldn’t make the marriage successful he shouldn’t have tried and ruined someone else’s life, especially the life of someone he loved. Albeit how would he know. But that doesn’t make him blameless.
The blonde hair was unable to bear his feelings towards his master and left him. He abandoned his master due to him being too lacking to control his own emotions. And thus, his master was driven to suicide due to mistreatment and betrayal among other things.
The red hair sent his shadow to the black hair’s family, knowing full well how that would impact the MC. He possibly had ulterior motives regarding the MC, but it doesn’t diminish what he did.
Not trying to be harsh or anything. It’s just a way of thinking about it and it’s kinda POV. I feel like that’s how they think of it themselves in the first timeline or they should’ve at least once thought this way.

That is what I am saying from the beginning. These three are toxic bastard one way or another. But people here try to defend them and say these are only in the past and MC moved on from this.
I know there is something called PTSD and I will sure be having this if I was the MC and possibly puking whenever I see them. And it is not like MC didn’t know that behind his demise these people were the main culprit.

Go back to chapter one. MC didn’t really took his life because of this but rather the duke failed to protect him. MC continuously got backlashed by his father in law and duke family even servant looked down on him
....To make it worse the duke only said sorry for having sex another guy other than that he did not do anything as a husband. And I this red guy also had hand in this
