I wish they would at least use the whole shark so that none is wasted.
Well the thing is they are going to eat the fish, well more specifically its fin. Shark fin soup is a delicacy in some parts of the world and so the fins sell well (not least because all the shark finning and environmental damage). Of course when you think about it in a purely business-like manner; Why would you waste cargo space on whole shark carcasses, when the single most valuable thing is the fin?
These people are not doing it for sport. They do it for profit.
Even so shark finning is cruel and in my opinion should be made illegal, however if people are still willing to eat shark fins the trade will never die out.
