unfortunately this doesn't have the same oomph that the author's other works have. the characterization is shallow and the romance isn't that compelling. even in hate mate or merry go round the romance wasn't really that strong by itself, but the story worked anyway, as the characters were better crafted and the themes and messaging were clear and well conveyed. here it feels like there isn't much to look foward to except for the romance, which i'm not a fan of since jiho still comes off as unlikable and unsympathetic. the art is nice as always, really expressive. i generally have my issues with 3d backgrounds, they never look that great. in hate mate they solved the background problem by just not drawing them unless it was necessary, and i feel like that solution works way better than introducing 3d backgrounds that bog down the quality.
also i just noticed how jiho looks a lot more feminine in recent chapters then he did at the start lmao

i just really don't understand the vitriol in these comments and what exactly is causing y'all to drop this. the sohan dad arc clearly has been hinted at since forever and it comes as no surprise, considering that the main theme of the story is family, after all. also sohan is behaving in an understandable way considering he was neglegted as a child, abandoned by his parents and now he has found hid dad again. he's clinging to his father no matter how shitty he is, not because he's fond of him, but because he's afraid of being alone once again. all of this seems fairly reasonable to me and i can't understand why the comments don't seem to be able to emphasize.

hot take, but i think the side stories are what makes this story interesting. getting a glimpse of every side character's life is pretty cool, and i like the author's takes and view on sex work. i guess you can argue that the switch from a focused plot to this kind of fragmented storytelling wasn't super well executed but i still dig it. we have so many romance series we can read anyway, but we don't have many series that are centered on a positive view of sex work, so i don't mind the romance taking a back seat for a while

since i first started reading this, i believed the author was building up a toxic and unsustainable relationship, and i was 100% sure the story would end with them parting ways. i still think that would have made much more sense than what we actually got. you can't just spend over a hundred chapters characterizing yuri as a controlling, cold, selfish and violent person, to just forget all of that and give him a happy ending. this ending is literally everything i didn't want to happen to this story. and i wouldn't even mind if it ended with seonwoo being trapped in a toxic relationship with yuri, as long as the toxicity and abuse was acknowledged and recognized within the story. meanwhile here i feel like i'm being fucking gaslit, watching them being sort of lovey dovey, as if i didn't read about yuri being physically violent and doing extremely creepy shit like 30 chapters ago. the narrative lacks so much self awareness, it's like it doesn't even realize or recognize what it's portraying. it's really a shame, because before the two of them got together, i seriously though this series was one of the best I had ever read.

the last couple of chapters were lovely but the rest of the epilogue threatened to ruin the whole thing, it was pissing me off so badly. i just don't understand how the both of them went from being as dysfunctional as they were in the rest of the epilogue to being lovey dovey and cute in the last two chapters. it feels really contrived.
that aside, this was a great story that is definitely worth your time, even though there is a drop in quality towards the end. i'll miss it :')

S1 was absolutely amazing and the ending was perfect, bittersweet and realistic and i really liked how open ended it felt. I really don't know how to feel about this new season, on one hand, i trust this author with my life, but on the other i'm afraid it's going to fuck up the impact and the overall message of the first season. As of now, i think this webtoon should have ended after S1
i caught a few really cool references throughout the chapters. the panel with the floating head in the latest update is clearly referencing the apparition by moreau!
