I don’t hate the first couple, but tbh the second couple’s eating them up and I don’t even know their names. It’s not a hard rule that side/second couples’ stories shouldn’t kick off until the primary/first couples’ concluded, but in instances like this where the former is clearly overshadowing the latter it may’ve been wiser to do so. I just think it’s because the second couple has a more grounded conflict and solutions, with a closet case discovering his sexuality and a hot, more experienced dude willing to open that door for him. I will say of the first couple that I feel for Chris and how his own kinks that rely on trust were exploited by a former abusive partner makes for a compelling conflict on whether to believe in love again, which I feel is undermined by the Seme’s psychic powers which already make it a certainty they’ll be together removing Chris’ agency and the seme’s actions less brave or authentic.
Sorry for my essay length response y’all, I just love discussing stories and character motivationsヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

How did this go from wholesome pining to stereotypical yaoi? Why you gotta lie to the man Sang Hwa, and Mirae Hyung just because he told you something you didn’t want to hear doesn’t mean you can force your feelings on him and initiate sexual assault. I thought these two were strong enough to actually have honest communication and respect boundaries, but evidently it was all a ruse. I didn’t want this, I thought their first experience would be healthy and now it’ll be tainted by lies, mistrust, abuse, and manipulation (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

The communication in this series is so superb, and I love how they never put their own desires over the other’s wellbeing. That’s true love, omg I wish I had yaoi like this growing up instead of bully semes and romanticization of rape. This work should be a hallmark example for future romance BL to follow ╥﹏╥

Don’t lead someone on and then break things off to ”protect” them when you’re not even being honest about your own feelings. You’re not doing it for the other’s good, you’re just being selfish and framing it as a favor to preserve your own ego, because what you’re actually doing is trying to protect yourself from falling for the other person and getting hurt if it ends. But the gag is, you just set the stage for your worst outcome and cast it on the other person who was being honest and already falling on top of being dishonest with your intentions. In conclusion, Joshua you may have scrumptious titties but you’re a bitch ass jerk for kicking Puppy Seme Lucas in the face and I hope the Yaoi Gods straighten you the fuck out (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
Kang really decided to torture someone physically and mentally using methods like rape, blackmail, and manipulation...all because of one petty comment made from a jealous stranger. Could’ve minded his own business, flipped him off, pulled a prank, or even just threw hands once and let it go, but no he decided to pull off some real psycho shit. Idc if he was abused, because this story is just gonna wipe that away by having them fall in love.
Junho...I really don’t want to victim blame, but I’m starting to think he just wants to initiate sex but doesn’t want to lose face so he’s resolved to intentionally put himself in scenarios where he’s more likely to get “raped”. How many times have you been in a direct contest of strength with Kang and lost now? He kicked your ass, tied you up, put you in a chokehold, carried your weight, and forcefully raped you so many times and you think you’ll magically be successful this time? How could he not expect this outcome when it happens every 3-5 chapters; like seriously, it might as well be foreplay at this point!
This series wants to be both a dark drama and wacky romcom at the same time and it’s not working. You can’t have have us take Kang’s abusive background seriously and at the same time have Junho be this lighthearted, plucky idiot whose character never realistically makes a drastic change after being abused by Kang. It’s a huge contradiction to have Kang’s cruelty at the hands of the chairman be given a poignant framing, meanwhile Junho’s rapes are being blatantly sexualized and in the aftermath it’s cliché “enemies to friends to lovers” yaoi beats. Either be an absurdist parody of yaoi tropes that would soften heavier elements like rape, or a heavy drama that properly portrays traumatic events through the characters: you can’t have your cake and eat it too ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
yes, very well worded!!
