i just don’t find the “persistent ML” trope charming AT ALL! it’s vile how these stories basically groom women and girls into thinking that it’s romantic and desirable for men to be grade 5 clingers who don’t give their partners any room to grow.
like, this man has been manipulating FL since the beginning of the manhwa and just when i thought her america arc would show both leads growing up and coming to terms with their past on their OWN, SINGLE terms, this nonsense is what i’m hit with?!
Thank you! I keep saying he's been manipulating her too and I literally had someone ask when and if the manipulation is in the room with us. I was like yes it's the giant bright pink elephant of manipulation taking up their whole relationship! He literally used his power as her boss to stop her seeing people when she tried to start dating. But no it's romantic when the ML is the one manipulating her. Now he's not respecting anything she says.
yup! it’s a bit concerning how so many readers are blind to his incredibly textual scheming. like you mentioned, there’s definitely the matter of a gigantic power imbalance which the ML had no qualms against using; and PLUS, he lied to her about her father’s whereabouts??! i NEED him to get off of her for like 20 more chapters at least
i’m still on her side idgaf! yes, her breaking up out of the blue was badly done on her part but ppl conveniently forget she was grieving the loss of her only living relative as well as feeling the pressure of the wealth disparity between her and the ML.
besides, even without these layers of justification, ML coercing the FL into having sex with him is disgusting. need y’all to take off your boy crazy goggles and realise how horrible his actions have been regardless of how “annoying” you believe FL is
man, i hope the author doesn’t make FL get with the second ML and then write her to still have feelings for or god forbid, cheat with sanari. not because i think it wouldn’t be a compelling plot point but bc i could not stand the hordes of boymoms on here coming together for their FL bashing session; this is one of the few comment sections free of it in the first place
it’s a shame that a manhwa with such potential seems to be going out this sad :/
i really liked that one of our main characters was gay and that it was actually being handled well but now he’s…. in love with sami and his feelings for the (i assume) ML weren’t romantic?? plus, there seemed to be promise of a budding female friendship (with the bully) and sami’s friends from her old school but all of that fizzled out super. AND ALSO WHERE IS THE HOT UNCL-
*ahem* hopefully i’m jumping the gun here and the webtoon gets back on track for the third act but as it stands now… yeah, i don’t know why i bother to keep reading it
i have no issues with chan being bi but like i said, i just don’t think he’s being written very well. his infatuation with sami seems more like a plot contrivance than an actual depiction of a queer young person’s muddled feelings.
as it stands now, despite the few scenes of contemplation from him, i still think this shift in chan’s feelings are wholly abrupt and unearned (by the author) and that we were robbed of a much more interesting storyline (chan + sami being friends and rivals, in a sense) in service of an infinitely poorer one (every main boy falls in love with sami)

what are the odds that the author hit her head somewhere after writing the college part of this manhwa
