Is that it's because the story is actually so incredibly life like that it's frustrating for those seeking escapism. This author isn't good with bdsm, at all. I'll give everyone that. Their other story is complete trash with bdsm, which I said in my comment on that story.

However this piece is so close to the real world that I think it makes a lot of people uncomfortable because theyve come here seeking an escape from that. However in the real world there is abuse without fulfilling endings. There is catastrophic levels of lack of communication. There is quick one sided judgements made by people who will never take the time to learn the real truth. There are cycles of trauma that can be nearly impossible to break and often require great sacrifice to do so.

This is no masterpiece, but the author has a lot more going for this story than the majority of stories out there. People are just having trouble seeing that and appreciating it because they've come to this story expecting it to fulfill their desires for how they wish things to pan out, but what they wish for is fantasy, and this gives us a much more real representation of life and relationships.

He's a bit of a breath of fresh air. He's smart-ish, stubborn, has a backbone, sharp tongued. I like his personality.
But man was it a fucking slog to get through him constantly being surprised by the man he's in a f*ckb*ddy relationship with wanting sex. Or him constantly deluding himself into thinking that asshole had feelings for him. Or when he kept going back to him after quitting his job.
I will say though, even though it was a bit of a slog, it's nice to see a realistic depiction of a messy relationship from messy people. I love how he isn't immediately falling over himself to forgive or excuse the seme's behavior during this chase arch too. He is 100% still angry, still spiteful, holding the man accountable, and not giving him an inch. Just as any normal person would actually do.

I can't put this down because it's so refreshing to see a uke/switch with real personality, backbone, and an axe to grind.

This is great. I like it a lot. This is a good one

This is honest to God what so so so so SO many REAL relationships are like. Communication is ALWAYS a work in progress, it doesn't matter how many years you're together. And trying to spruce things up. Falling into ruts. The CRINGE. The embarrassment. The laughter. The fighting. Ah, no, this is too underrated. It's freaking adorable, cute, not toxic, very realistic, and just so fluffy.

Period. The. End.

There's very little to no backstory to go off of which is probably why this story just generally is not good. Won't say it sucks, but it's not good. Without the backstory it's hard to connect to let alone care about the two characters. And then the story is rushed on top of that.

The MC just seems like a plain idiot. He's extremely obvious because he seems to go out of his way to be while attempting to hide how he feels. He's oblivious to the ML (who lets be frank, is just terrible at communicating. Couldn't tell him you liked him, have to toy with his feelings). And then that entire cringy, lay-it-all-out-there scene. After he again, couldn't possibly be more obvious/oblivious. "Oh, let me hide my feelings from the guy I like by sitting in our shared common room together and masterbate to a video of him while calling out his name." Come on. You cannot possibly be *that* big of an idiot.

Honestly, I'm surprised this is rated as high as it is.

I don't know man. I am NOT happy that the ML used the MC as bait and planned on him getting harmed and using that as a way to tie him to himself. Especially when it was so obvious that the Uke was pretty much his already. All he had to do was ask. This type of behavior isn't excuse able. Authors always just gloss over this sort of thing too.

I think right up until the last 2 chapters this has been a very compelling read with a plot that isn't obvious (which is oh so refreshing) and absolutely beautiful artwork. The way bodies is drawn is absolutely elegant. If I had one thing to complain about is that the MC is supposed to be crippled but the only way this is show is by him using a crutch. There are absolutely no signs of being injured on his body. No atrophying or anything.

I'll keep reading but I have a feeling that this behavior by the Seme is going to be glossed over which I really really really hate. It's poor writing. He might have some sort of redemption arch, but again, there is no forgiving this type of action. MC really should just go with ML2, but of course that won't happen.

Honestly, this story could have ended at the Ferris wheel but I got the feeling that the author somewhat wanted to tell other stories too, and then just decided to jam them all into one story.

.It was after that point that the story just got utterly riddled with cliches and tropes and forced (and rather repetitive) sex scenes. ML is the bastard son of a conglomerate, because of course he is, he has a non-bastard brother with a mutual hate for each other, because of course, his mother raised him in secrete without ever telling him who his father was, because of course, tells her son to go find him on her death bed (cuz why not send him to a stranger who you've hated for 20 years?), he wants revenge on his father, because of course, the MC knows and has a bad history with the non-bastard brother, because of course, non-bastard brother is utterly incompetent, because obviously.

And it is full of weird plot holes. Firstly, that forced in sex scene at the hospital. ML is OBSESSED with MC's health, but when MC passes out for unknown reasons, and within TWO MINUTES of waking up in the hospital, ML decides to initiate sex in the hospital room. I think the author just wanted to have a hospital sex scene....
Also, we actually know nothing about the ML's and his brother's relationship. They hate each other purely for plot's sake. And how in the world is making a fool out of his brother somehow revenge against his father? And how exactly does that alone make him take over the company away from his father? Honestly, the whole take-over plot just makes utterly no sense.

The relationship is great. It's good. It's not toxic. It's mostly healthy. This whole thing should have ended at the Ferris wheel though.

Truthfully the story hasn't been bad so far. At the very least there's no rape.... The bar is so low.
It's not a particularly great story imo, but then again in only 36 chapters in.
Yet here is where we are introduced to an overly used sign of poor writing skills. The introduction of a new character just to info dump on the MLs "tragic" past.
Wish the authors would stop using this gimmick.
It just really drove home that so far, the story isn't that
compelling. Just the same as the reason for someone having any type of unusual kink (in this case a form of exhibitionism) is always caused by some type trauma. Lord forbid anyone just naturally have non-vanilla kinks. Nooo, those can ONLY happen because of something bad happened in their past ....
It's not bad, but so far can't really understand the 9.1 rating.

The story really just seems to lack depth that would grab you and reel you in, but that doesn't mean it's a bad one. It's a sweet and rather short couple of stories.

Not that I've read them all to be fair, but I've attempted to read a few others and have really just hated them. Their glaring plot holes always piss me off, or the fact that in so many to give guidance means you MUST have sex. (Where are all the kids from all this sexing in those universes?) Or just plain terrible/abusive characters that we're supposed to somehow sympathize with.

This guideverse is much more believable. The world building imo is just better than the others I've tried to read. The characters have depth and are actually likeable. I'm so happy that this was the first guideverse I stumbled upon, and it really set the bar for the others.
