This is why I don't get why people say season 2 is superior to season 1.
The first couple was sweet, respected each other completely, never pressured each other, had a realistic development, went through normal couple issues, offered a very nice reflection on what being a racial minority is like in America and also how your own community can feel unwelcoming at times.
THAT was original af. How many BLs have you read that dealt with all these topics at once? How many mature BLs have a respectful, sensitive top that treats the bottom with care from beginning to end?
Season 2 is not that bad at all. Yeonwhu is an interesting character and I love how he also felt like Korea wasn't the place for him due to being gay, it reminded me of how the main couple didn't like Korea/Koreans either but also found it hard to fit in the States sometimes.
However, this couple's dynamic is so, so tired. Internalised homophobia? Check. Pushover bottom? Check. Mean top ~but that's because he has trauma uwu~? Check.
Emotional blackmail? Check.
Ffs, even the fact that Taewan has a humongous dick is a (stupid) BL trope.
I'm gonna keep reading and enjoying it but the plot for the second couple is totally average and it feels like a missed opportunity given the quality of the first couple.

I know that but if you compare Taewan with his brother, Taewan's dick is much bigger. We knew Taehee's dick was big too but only because Dojin said it. It was otherwise average looking.
Therefore the author didn't have to draw Taewan's dick to let us know it's big but she chose to and I find that disappointing.

Seugho: *prevents Na-Kyum from ever seeing his sister again by threatening to murder her if she comes back, showing that he more ever wants to isolate Na-Kyum from everyone he cares about*
Daft readers: is this character development?! ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ uWu

He was being “nice” on a very surface level. He’s done that before- like when he told Nakyum he likes him. But that, in my opinion, is completely overshadowed by what he does next, which is to tell Nakyum’s noona to leave or he will have her killed. Of course Nakyum doesn’t know about this so he doesn’t realise that Seungho is isolating him from the only person who cares about his well-being. Therefore, that short scene where Seungho gives Nakyum a scarf and allows him to see Noona off, to me, is not character development (although I did find it sweet until I read the rest of the chapter). Until I see Seungho do something purely for Nakyum’s sake (and not just some manipulative ploy to keep him by his side) I don’t think I can believe that he’s changed (in a positive way at least). However, that is my opinion, feel free to disagree I just thought I should explain my view

For teenagers reading this: if an adult ever tells you this, run away from them and don't look back.

It's grooming 101.You're not mature for your age, on the contrary you act exactly like your age and that's why they "like" you. They're excited by your immaturity.

Yeah totally agree! I began reading this thinking he was a college student or an office worker and got attached to the characters until i saw the school uniform in chapter 4 but I still wanted to know what happens and kept reading but thinking about all the skinship and conversations they had they were all red flags from the start.
I know that the age of consent is different in Japan and that it’s a different society and in my home country girls marrying at 18/19 y-o is completely normal but still i don’t understand mangakas obsession with making these types of stories? Like what are you trying to normalise? Or rather what’s so exiting about these types of relationships where there’s clearly a power dynamic (especially when it’s a teacherXstudent)

A few people have been saying that Seungho's place is the safest for Na-Kyum. That's not true.
First of all, this house is a jail where he's held captive and either raped or coerced into sex depending on his kidnapper's mood.
Secondly, the only reason Na-Kyum is in deep shit right now is because he's Seungho's main hoe, and that situation doesn't vibe with his ex side hoes.
If he were to leave, he wouldn't be targeted anymore. Seungho is literally to blame for everything that went wrong with Na-Kyum's life. The only positive impact he's had on Na-Kyum was make him accept his sexuality, but even that was tarnished by the trauma he inflicted upon Na-Kyum, who thought of himself as a whore for some time.

Not disagreeing with you, but do remember the reason why he thought he was a whore was not because of SH, it was because of his learned sir. He was the one who enforced the idea that nakyum should only sleep with SH to get the learned sir ahead, and called him a whore for sleeping with him for pleasure. I definitely don’t think he was doing well before coming to SH either.

I didn't say he was doing well regarding his sexuality before meeting Seungho. That's why I said that meeting him had a positive impact on that, because he got to see how Seungho was unapologetically gay.
However the learned sir is not only to blame for this him believing he's a whore. Sure, he said some very harsh words but if Seungho hadn't been treating him like an object he can sexually abuse whenever he feels like lashing out, Na-Kyum would not have taken it to heart that much. The learned sir just told Na-Kyum what he was already thinking due to Seungho's mistreatment of him, that's why he was so quick to believe it.

Okay but it's not out of the blue, it's because of Seungho.
Min wants a taste of him because Seungho favours him and he finds it intriguing. He wants to know what the fuss is all about. Besides, Seungho humiliated him by hitting him when he made comments about Na-Kyum so it's also about revenge.
Jiwha also wanted to kill him because he wans to be Seungho's favourite again.
Even that dead servant wanted to kill him because he was beaten up by Seungho for letting Na-Kyum escape.
Na-Kyum is a sweetheart that has made absolutely no enemy of his own, the people who want to harm him only want to do so because of Seungho's nasty behaviour towards them.

There was no blackmail, harassment or rape but the relationship still felt predatory to me.

Sure!
My thoughts are kinda fuzzy because it's been a little while since I read it but it felt to me like the seme, who is older and more experienced in love and sex, took advantage of the uke's innocence and need for affection to trick him into dating him.
It really rubs me the wrong way that he kissed him and took him back to his place on the first date to have sex.
All they do is moan for no reason and take long baths together.
Such a realistic relationship.
