The art change in ch49 just as it was getting better is so jarring (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

max2payne0 July 5, 2024 3:06 pm

Ch 64, yeah so, I might have to stop here for now. I still like the story, but I kinda want to quit while I still like the 2nd ML ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ from spoilers he becomes really trashy and I just wanna live in my broken bad boy yandere fantasy for now (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) he'd be the perfect ML in a different story, and much as I like our couple (seriously, the love scenes are hot, I'll probably just look at those and skip everything else since I've read both manhwa and novel spoilers) I'm starting to feel bad for this guy because he does a lot of awful things, but his backstory is genuinely sad, not enough to excuse him, but I pity him and wish someone would show him some genuine love and affection, but that's not what this story is about, so.

I'll come back and finish it after I've forgotten most of the story, then maybe I'll enjoy it more.

Also, I feel like I'm the only one who cares about the dad and brother
    (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

I know the author had to make her completely isolated for the story to work, it wouldn't have gone the way it did if she didn't feel completely hopeless, but I feel he had good reason to keep her separated from them. Since they were basically going to war with the 2nd prince, Bianca would have been in danger if she stayed at home (and honestly with how quickly the 2nd prince becomes interested in her, those two probably could have been end game in some twisted alternate universe.)
Plus, their world is different from ours, so while I wish they'd at least caved and written letters to the FL (could this have been dangerous tho? If they'd been intercepted for example) I don't judge them that harshly. Even if you don't see or speak to each other for years, (non dysfunctional) family still cares for family.

Time to isekai and save the villain

max2payne0 July 4, 2024 11:40 pm

I hate it when artists (or authors really since this is a visualization of a novel) make villains so good-looking. I'm in ch31 and the 2nd prince's yandere vibes are tempting me a little, since it's a trope I like. If our ML wasn't so cute and sexy, I wouldn't mind that ending

Like I know he'll probably piss me off later, but for now, he's super hot.

max2payne0 July 4, 2024 9:05 pm

So I did manage to find this complete on a different site, it's a short story, only 12 chapters long, and complete.

In the end, it's a cute story I wish it was longer, even if only up to 20 chapters long.

max2payne0 July 4, 2024 4:31 pm

This skips from ch4-17, but -17 is actually ch1, and ch21 is actually ch5.

Sad this doesn't continue since it's the first story I've come across that wasn't all about nobles.

Honestly, the story is kind of gross.

Below, there be spoilers...

I'm not even talking about the age gap when I say it's gross, though I do take offense to the author having them consummate their marriage in the new timeline when she's 17, and he's a 30 year old man. If author really wanted that to happen quickly, then have her "vision" happen when she's 17, not 16. And yeah, it's not even a regression story, she has a vision of the future, so she really is a 17 year old, not someone older stuck in a 17 year old body, and ends up sleeping with a 30 year old man.

With stories like this, I'd prefer for the FL to have more time to mature, so I'm usually not even okay with sex at 18, maybe some separation and/ or a time skip so she's in her early 20s, but at minimum I wish it would be 18 years.

But that's beside the point. This girl gets married off to a grown ass man at 7 (9 in the manhwa, so hopefully they'll have the consummate age be 18+) and it's not like no one knows this, but everyone gives this poor young girl, who found herself in a situation she was too young to understand, such a hard time. The story starts when she's around 16, but she's obviously been treated terribly for a long time. I understand the ML distancing himself because he doesn't understand what to do, either, but I wish he'd made some effort to get through to her earlier. I also wish she wasn't cut off from her family the way she was. I've read at least one other story where an older ML marries a child bride for reasons, but they were at least on friendly terms, he didn't ignore her, and she wasn't isolated. Also nothing romantic happens before she's of age (and I think there was some distance between them when she went through puberty). It was years back so I didn't remember it as much, but child bride and adult husband stories CAN be done right without making it gross.

Fyi these are just my thoughts based on the spoilers, I'll read the story anyway so nobody flame me for having an opinion please

Ok, I just read the first chapter and thank God the manhwa starts with her at 18.

Bruh they have an eight year age gap. Zac married Bia when she was 9 and he was 17. Tf you talking about? And Zac did not lay a hand on her until she was 19.

Spoilers from the novel, they got married when she was 7 and he 20, in 1st timeline he waits until she's 18 to consummate their relationship, but in the 2nd timeline she's 17 when they do it.

I read the novel spoiler before I even started the manhwa, and the adaptation seems to have made a lot of changes.

Ah I see. The manhwa is better then. Their age gap is eight years and they copulated when Bia was 19/20 and Zac was 27/28

Yeah I can tell this is one of those stories that'll make me feel bad for the og male lead, and the character who gets possessed (this usually gets glossed over, but when their entire existence is so completely disregarded like in that promo onesot, by the FL, unless they're absolutely evil, I just feel bad for them). I'll give it a pass for now, but I might read it after checking out some spoilers.

I'm reading the novel and I do feel bad for him at times, but whenever I do, the story never fails to remind me how much of a trash he is. Not evil per se, just trash.

    shitcory July 6, 2024 9:08 am

Yeah, I feel the second part of that. One of my biggest pet peeves is when these stories act as if "remembering my past life" and "possession" are the same thing, when they shouldn't be! The complete personality swift makes sense when it comes to possession, as the possessor has their own sense of self/ego left over from their previous world. Even if they receive the memories of the body they possessed, their "self" is still the one from before the possession. Reincarnation w/ memories from the beginning counts for this, as you already have that sense of self and have yet to develop one for the current body specifically.

"Remembering my past life" is, or at least should be, the opposite of that. In those cases, your main sense of self should be your current self, regardless whether you've lived that life for 5, 10, 15, or 20 years, and regardless of how long you lived your past life. I can see some personality changes be possible, but for the most part it shouldn't change much. Similarly how a possessor views the memories of the body as someone else's, this type of reincarnator should be viewing their previous life memories as someone else's. Close yet distant.

It frustrates me so much whenever I see this reincarnation trope and the moment they remember the past, their personality swifts completely and/or they start talking about themselves in third person, as if the life they lived so far wasn't theirs. The same goes for the people they've known, typically these stories make the MC start thinking about the world they live in as just "a world in a novel" and the people around her as "characters". Like, hello??? This has been your reality for who knows however many years, your perspective on this shouldn't suddenly shift unless you were experiencing existencial dread about it.

Those make sense for a possessor, but not for this type of reincarnator.

This is all my personal opinion ofc, you are free to disagree.

As for this story, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, she was "time-skipped" into the present, so she technically should have her past ego still (as MC still has the same memories), but on the other, she was essentially transported from her past life directly onto the present, thus keeping her old ego.
I feel like they just wanted a slightly more interesting take on the possessor trope, they def could've done the simpler route where she just possesses the villainess and also receives the body's memories, no need for anyrhing about a time skip imo.

The cover looks pretty but I can't with this story, it's slow and not all that interesting plus updates seem to have stopped, and I couldn't find spoilers for anything besides the final chapter and side stories.

max2payne0 July 3, 2024 10:54 pm

I read to ch10, skipped to 32 to see how bad that scene is, and... It's honestly not as bad as I worried? Because I've read worse, but also because it's hard to take this story seriously. Why does it reminds me so much of Wattpad stories? ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

It's super cliche, super cheesy and cringey in parts, the art isn't even that great, and if they were going to censor the love scene like that (whiting anything below the waist) they should have just left the scene out altogether.

Great concept, not so great execution. I've seen a lot of gangster bl and this is probably the weakest.

max2payne0 July 3, 2024 9:25 pm

I'm finally at the latest chapter. After reading a few that were mediocre or just plain bad that I had to drop, I'm glad I found this manhwa. I almost didn't read it because I worried it'd be cliche, but it's actually a lot better than I thought.

ML falls in love first, and that's the part I love the most. Also, I'm used to artists drawing awkward profiles of characters, but in this story, the ML looked the most handsome in profile (before the art got better, anyway,) and now he's wearing his hair down almost all the time compared to the beginning.

The story seems to be winding down, so I probably won't have to wait a full year to read the conclusion, but I'm excited to see everything come together. The uploads look consistent and hopefully there won't be any unexpected hiatus.
