it's always been a little awkward for me as an American whenever manga/manhwa is set in the US bc there are just little cultural tells that aren't natural to us but that the mangaka doesn't even notice they're doing, but this was so good I forgot it was a manga for at least a whole volume so serious props to the author, esp since it was also a historical piece, which even us USian writers struggle with. takes some serious gumption and skill to do that and pull it off so beautifully. masterpiece, honestly.

their relationship was so flat, it would have taken way longer than 5 chapters to make it believeable, uke was a complete lamp and had no backstory or personality (we literally ended the manga knowing one thing about him: that he has a brother. tf man lol), and the seme was such a huge piece of shit it was almost hilarious, like reading a trainwreck
don't get me wrong, I'm all for polyamory (god there are some love triangle stories I just wanna pull a "now kith" for) but this ain't it. This ain't even an open relationship situation bc seme doesn't respect his current partners, any of them. he's just a fuckboy. "Don't ask me where I've been/who I've been with/what I've been doing" soooo don't talk to you at all lmao. And there's a difference between having a mature conversation about your boundaries and preferences like an adult and bluntly plonking down expectations for compliance.

this reads like it wasn't written by a 16 year old like so many BLs. The dialogue is strong, the characters feel like they have depth, and oh the banter. cute, little tiny bit of angst but not enough that it feels stupid, seme is forceful but not rapey -- and on that note multiple times displays the self-control expected of an adult.
I normally hate love triangles, and especially when an interloper pops in after the main couple is established, and don't get me wrong taka x hina for life but Sunny is fucking cute and I want him to have his own spinoff so he can find his own love. I LOVVEEE manhwa so seeing a Korean character in a manga is like a shot to the heart. and honestly he's a sweetheart, he didn't do anything ridiculously terrible other than just fall in love with the wrong person. Taka is SO mature about it to holy shit the love and trust.
