Guys, Oscar is not all powerful. He cannot force Ines to be his mistress. If he could’ve compelled Ines to marry him, Ines wouldn’t be married to Carcel but him instead. He can plot all he wants but he cannot force Ines.
First, Ines will not allow herself to be forced by Oscar.
Second, Carcel will not allow his wife to fall into Oscar’s hands
Third, Carcel’s father, who is Oscar’s biggest political supporter, would not allow it. Oscar might think he would but he would not.
Fourth, Ines’s father would never allow it.
The think it's more about undertone. If he succeed in killing Carcel, he would then always be near Ines in every possible occasion, then he would try to summon her to the palace for whatever reason and lastly he would spread the rumors about her being his mistress while pretending he's merely jesting to the point everyone believes that she is.
Of course if that scenario happened like you said Ines and her family would not allow it but Oscar is powerful enough for it to be a possibility
Oscar is not that powerful. Even Oscar’s crown prince status is not guaranteed. The emperor often threatens him with dethronement. Oscar was deposed when Ines killed herself when she was crown princess.
Luciano. The crown prince hates Luciano the most and fears him the most. That’s another reason why it’s great Carcel chose her brother to protect her whenever he cannot be there to protect her himself.
I just love that Cárcel continues to open the path for Ines to regain all the things she lost ever since she gave them up for the crown prince in the timeline she married him and became crown princess as shown in ep62, page 18.

The latter is the one featured in ch 89. The other letter written in Calztela basically talks about how much he misses her and how he doesn’t remember how he lived in that damn port city without her. He talks about coming home and hoping to see her, going up to the second floor and library and foolishly hoping she’s there. He says he feels like he’s trapped in a boring dream without her and it feels like he’ll only wake up when she returns.
Inés mentions she couldn’t show Juana all of the letter because of the lewd things he wrote. In the Calztela letter he talks a lot about inhaling her scent. lol. Inés always admonishes him not to write lewd things in his letters because their future children might read them one day. Her expectation is always that their letters will be preserved for their posterity. lol
This is the term of endearment used for this couple in this story. It was in the prologue chapter signifying it’s not a one-off endearment. Gotta smile how Ines is blushing profusely over the term.

Ines doesn’t even realize she’s the one who influenced Carcel to be a clean freak. It was only featured in ep4 of the manhwa but Carcel took that lesson to heart ever since he was a kid and he’s obsessed with being clean. In the novel, even after sex, Ines is usually annoyed that he looks clean and put together while she looks like a mess. It’s mentioned a few times throughout the story to emphasize this is habitually a part of his character so he won’t sleep with Ines unless he’s clean. lol

For those asking about the novel, I bought the Korean books for Broken Ring from Ridibooks. This is how I read Korean novels. I rarely read translated versions unless they’re direct translations because I prefer to read what the author actually wrote. So far I have read about 20+ korean novels that all have manhwa versions.
Oh but I don't understand korean
I read all those books with translation apps. Take for example Reminiscent Adonis, The Great Wish, Ugly Duckling, False Confessions, Honey I’m Going on Strike and many others, I read them with translation app and even provided long summaries for some of them on Novelupdates. Many users on Novelupdates use translation apps to provide spoilers on that forum. However, I know not everyone likes to read MTL.

The million dollar question. It’s too important a question to Carcel to be swept under the rug. What will he feel when he finds out the truth and how will it impact their relationship?
Ines is seated at the same table with both of her nemeses. Next chapter should be interesting. Don’t forget Oscar invited her about 3-4 chapters ago to his Formente game. He asked her to wear a garland which signifies romantic affection. He’s obviously delusional but at least he’s becoming bolder and it would make his schemes more apparent. Ines needs to be more aware of the danger that’s lurking and looming before her.
