I agree, the concept is very interesting but it seems a bit messy. Instead of it being a mystery if just appears like the author doesn't know how to map out all the rules effectively. Compared to something like 'The Summer Hikaru Died' or 'MADK' it lacks some substance and is getting a bit stale
Exactlyyyyyy, like the morbidness and themes of the story doesn't disturb me unlike the other readers (I've read worse), but dark≠good, and compared to the other horror stories rn (like tshd) this doesn't have the same oomph that I feel when reading those. It kind of feels too episodic rn. Maybe its a slow burn, but it feels a lil TOO slow for me its been more than 10 chaps already and I still haven't felt a shift/conflict in the story since chap 1. Which is why I hope the baddie actually becomes a problem for them and not just another fodder character
I totally agree. There’s no actual plot. Nothing to get excited about, like questions that need to be solved our actual mystery to keep the readers hooked. Every case is resolved the same way, so easily. As you said it’s pretty episodic, which isn’t always bad but we’re 10+ chapters in and I could’ve just read 5 instead and nothing would’ve changed

Also if my memory serves me right (Its been a while) one of the chapters showed that okaya started bullying him because he defended one of the victims (glasses kid) from being bullied, so it seems like it really has more to do with nagare defying him than birth switch.. but then again the author did pull a yakuza family in the mix, so who knows...
The next major arc will prolly feature nirei's FULL backstory with hints of sakura's. Then after maybe sakura's full backstory will be revealed. Finally, it will be suo's turn, which I'm guessing is close to the conclusion of the series.
(I have reasons and theories as to why, esp regarding the meaning of their names and the symbols used in the story, but its too long lol)
The other side characters backstories will most likely happen in the middle of, or after nirei's and sakura's backstory, but def not after suo's.
I like minamoto for the mc more, cause as of now I personally find hatano boring, since his personality is only centered around the mc, unlike mind reader who I still find funny and interesting even if he doesn't get to interact with the mc. Though his current goal is to find our mc rn, he still got his own problems and backstory and all, while hatano was obv just created to fck with the mc, which just doesn't vibe with me, esp since I personally believe that mc deserves someone better who actually has more personality than "love interest who's been pining over the mc for years", but that's just me lol.
