I imagine there was some major miscommunication and misunderstanding that contributed to how fucked up their relationship became because otherwise I can't imagine any meaningful development between the MCs other than just repeating the cycle of uke hating the shit out of seme and seme being abusive af. Something has to change this time around.

The main couple and story was such an incredible read. The set up and dynamic of the pair was fascinating in itself but the way it was told was enthralling. I know there's a prequel which might explain more but I like that nothing is ever explicitly stated here. You just kind of sense the tension from the silences and subtle expressions and reactions from both characters and know there's so much brewing beneath the surface. Even the smut felt purposeful/ move the story in some way/ tell us something about the characters instead of being pure fan service which is so satisfying. It leaves the reader wanting more.

The friend was a massively pathetic piece of shit. Using his accident and threats of suicide to emotionally manipulate the uke and mess with the mc's relationship was selfish, cowardly, underhanded and conniving. There is nothing appealing/likable about the character and he serves zero purpose other than creating annoying conflict for the MCs. Him playing off his threats of suicide like it was cute, the uke brushing it off/accepting it, and the seme letting it slide was aggravating af. If you know anyone like that, drop them immediately.

AMEN. Omg I was looking for a comment that addressed this. It pissed me off so bad how he was clearly getting played by his friend but he doesn’t get angry at all and it gets brushed over. I would’ve been FURIOUS if I was in Seonho’s shoes, but he’s too much of a sweet angel to... Especially since his gut feeling was correct in the end that the toxic friend was purposely calling while they were together to try to drive them apart... I hate that it was brushed over and they just fixed it with sex.
I love this so much. Their dynamic is fascinating in so many ways. It's so refreshing when yaoi goes outside of usual character archetypes. The uke being the more experienced, jaded, careless and insensitive one instead of the seme who is far more emotional and naive is really intriguing.
It also seems like the seme has an inferiority complex while the uke has some level of self loathing and it'd be interesting to see where this goes.
Interesting indeed
That's not an unusual dynamic at all. There are dozens of manga/manhwa out there with this dynamic lol. This is a very common trope in BL nowadays.
