Because backstory would make more sense, but then again, is it really possible for him to have used his power like that more than ten years ago, join a company and fight bad guys, and still end up lonely in a small apartment with no knowledge of powers? There's also the theory that this is like a different timeline or an alternative reality/universe. Maybe someone with powers did that? Well either way, I'm excited to find out how any of this is relevant to the original story
