finished reading this last night (absolutely devastated) but i was left still confused what the relationship between yuhan and ilha was. throughout the story, we saw him and ilha living together, sleeping in the same bed, and acting intimately, making us think he was cheating on myeong or that ilha was his real partner. but that was revealed to be false (?) because ilha was actually his deceased brother’s partner and this whole time, she was simply plotting his revenge against him. we also see in yuhan’s backstory how ilha cared for him, even worried that them living together as an adult man and woman would be wrong. she practically took him in, raised him, and even taught him to live a normal life by letting him work as a manager under her. so i’m confused how they got to the point of acting so intimate with each other, when even until yuhan tried to kill himself and found myeong’s pictures, their relationship seemed solely like a guardian and depender type. so what happened? was it part of her revenge to ruin yuhan because she wanted to ruin everything that man cherished? or did yuhan want to comfort her after what his brother did? i’m just so confused, i don’t think it was addressed or did i miss something?

Are we forgetting he was groomed and literally SA’d as a child on NUMEROUS occasions, beat by his dad, has his idea of love warped because of how his parents relationship was, was CONSTANTLY having his life monitored and controlled by his dad, was influenced by alcohol on many occasions, and even got into a relationship where he was stalked, abused, and sa’d. He literally has so much trauma. You guys are literally brain dead if you think a person with that amount of trauma can just be “normal” and love Yujun and happily ever after. Like that’s NOT how things work. I love how this story is realistically portraying these situations. What these two really need to do is talk and I mean talk about EVERYTHING from the beginning so that Yujun can understand where Jiho is coming from plus Jiho just needs to get it out cause this is a lot of stuff for one person to just keep inside of them. Plus Jiho might honestly have bp too as you remember that one chapter where he is in the hospital and the nurse said he needed to go see a psychiatrist. Jiho needs help and has had no one to help him get that help so once he tells Yujun what happened, Yujun can be there to help him seek the help that he needs.

Both morphine and propranolol are really bitter and bad tasting and if they were all over the straw he absolutely would have tasted it right away--plus it would take a couple of mL of solution to do the trick, so how did she manage to get that into him with just a straw? O_o On top of everything else, apple juice can mess with the absorption of beta blockers. Mom would surely have known all of that, especially if she was planning a pharmaceutical murder! I hate how stories with holier-than-thou MCs teach people to turn the other cheek even for those who clearly won't appreciate the gesture. That's like reinforcing the message that it's alright to become a doormat and take others' abusive behavior because that's just what "good people" do. In the real world, kindness alone won't get through to them and make them change. You're just opening yourself to exploitation.

This is one of the rare stories where I love the slow burn. But it’s pretty annoying that all people want is to see them fuck. Like pls, if you want smut, go to the hundreds on the main page. This focuses on the relationship development.

And let me just say, as someone who finished the novel, the main mystery arc is over and we are finally moving onto the romance arc. This is the part where they give the sweetness after the long slow burn. People complaining about the backstory and wanting smut scenes need to go goon elsewhere. This backstory is giving insight into their relationship and how it’s really fated in a way. It shows how their actions towards each other from back in high school where they hardly interacted, made a big choice in their future (current life). It also gives context to things that will happen later on. Like heechan’s past with his dad coming back later.

Oh and to give context of what’s happening now, I don’t think ML was in love or liked MC back in high school. I saw some people say “ML liked him all along.” That basically defeated the purpose of slow burn and ML showing he fell for MC in the entire mystery arc. This backstory shows that they both were aware of each other. ML was intrigued and entertained by MC, but that was as far as it went. He didn’t fall for MC until they reunited years later.

To give a tiny bit more info on what I was saying above, ML does help MC out but then he just moves on with his life and is ready to move out of the country. He actually gets mad at something MC said (it was something that influenced him). And then didn’t see MC again, basically forgetting about him over the years. And of course he returns with the cold personality we all know in the beginning. It’s interesting to see how he was more smiley and chill as a kid, but got all cold as an adult. It was likely due to the incident with his injury and pink hair.


Anyways they do have a relationship where they’re down BADDD for each other. I will warn some readers though: ML is not a green forest. That SHOULD have been expected given his suspicious background being all rich and powerful, pulling the strings and making others back down so easily the entire plot. He knows how to plots stuff. (Not psycho territory though, since I saw someone spoil incomplete/inaccurate novel spoilers). Overall he does treat heechan well and heechan is pretty head over heels for him.

i’ve had this manga stuck in my mind for days now and i can’t remember the title but i want to reread it so bad. does anyone know the name of the manga i'm thinking of or have the link? the plot: basically the fl from a wealthy privileged family gets betrayed and sold by her (some paternal figure) to an island or something or assassins which she doesn’t find out until late in the story to become a prostitute or killed (for some reason i forgot that had to do with power and succession in her family). she meets the ml and he saves or and she like becomes his wife? i think. and she tries to convince him to help her escape and get off the island (which he does and doesn’t/leading her on/lying to her/but then actually trying to save her/almost dying/etc. i loved their dynamic and the art of the story alongside the stories of all the side characters but now that i’m trying to reread this manga i literally can’t find it anywhere in my lists so im cooked
