I'm kinda confused that this is shocking/ridiculous? I think the latest chapter was pretty clear on the fact that ML wasn't quite right, like legit needed a full-on trip to the psychiatrist. A mental/personality disorder left unchecked since childhood isn't gonna patch him up to have normal thought patterns and behaviors. People like this literally need to actively learn and understand what's acceptable to society because their own compass is naturally skewed.
I definitely think you’ve missed something. Like, his current thinking patterns and behaviors are definitely in line with how he was as a child. Moreover, it’s implied that he most definitely was not left unchecked. Frequent trips to the hospital at six years old? That’s early intervention protocol. Plus his mother using Moon as a way to manipulate his behavioral patterns was 100% wrong but definitely explains his current toxic obsession with him. He is most a textbook case of ASPD.
Sorry what I meant by unchecked is how Moon appearing was as if a savior appeared for his mom and I assumed his parents never felt the need to worry as much since then. They just needed him to act normal and it's almost like as long as he did the doctor isn't that important. It feels like there's already minimal trips since then.
Well it’s been only one chapter and we haven’t seen the progression but at this point the opposite impression is given. It seems more like he makes some kind of progress functioning with Moon’s influence since he was sent into a normal school environment.
I’m not saying actual progress was made, just that he seems to be more high functioning and better at mimicking/masking with Moon as an example.

The point of the manga is to create/to be the best striker in the world, I got no problem with that.
It's not like I don't like the story; it's enjoyable and I still read it (I'm almost 200 now since reading yesterday). I Just hate the rather forceful implementation of 'cutting off people's futures for that one gem'. As far as I've read, the author can write and add drama without being intentionally extremist.
