Everyone here talking about the 4 ears and I've actually been wondering why the author chose to make Toshimasa a horse. I mean, rabbit x wolf makes sense, the whole odd couple of opposites dynamic and they look cute in their animal forms, etc. but lion x horse? First, as a couple, they'd look very awkward together in their animal forms as horse and lion, they aren't even from the same eco-systems, I think, not that it matters, I guess, but still. Then, the lion thing, predators, all they do is have sex and lay around, ok, I get it, good choice for Ouga's character, but why a horse?? Isn't horses' whole thing... well, their "thing"? He doesn't even use it, so what's the point? They could also milk the "he's gonna ride him like a horse" line, but no, it's the opposite, this is a horse doing the riding. What attribute did the author actually took advandtage of from horses? Could have been any other. A fucking zebra, for example, at least that's one thing lions are known for eating. Maybe author didn't feel like drawing the stripes, who knows.

They both were supposed to be of the same class. Lions are kings and horses are considered majestic. That's how they met all those years ago because of a high class party. A donkey probably wouldn't have had the same status. Yes, he was also considered high class because he was thoroughbred. If that was simply the case, thoroughbred donkey doesn't sound very classy either.
Shishidou wasn't supposed to be very prey-like too. They did state that he could defend himself better than other herbivores.

I made that reference to rabbit x wolf because that's the pairing from the original manga this one came from (this is a spin-off), which is this one: http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/ookami_kun_wa_kowakunai/
Pretty cute, I liked it, it has like a sequel or something.

God damn, the dick redrawer of this translators group is glorious, bra-vo ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

I hate being forced to shave armpits and legs as a girl, but men that are very hairy have it hard too, man. I had a friend that was very handsome but had full thick black hair from wrists to neck and he'd always wear long sleeved sweaters and collar all buttoned up, even when it was very hot outside because he was embarrassed about it. And it's not like you can just shave all of that off all the time. Sadly, he used to get some very bad reactions from girlfriends when they got intimate.
I was kind of triggered when those girls in the manga called him Gorilla because I was reminded of my friend, how dare they, stupid bitches, lol

Yeah, Muffin, I think that's the thing with those peculariaties we call "defects" in a person: we adapt to them and learn to appreciate them along with the person as a whole when they have other redeeming qualities.
Dunno how my friend's doing now, tbh, haven't talked to him in like 5 years since he left the country, but he was smart and handsome... so he had other things going for him, I bet he's doing fine, lol
I only watched Gintama because of Harada. She got me hooked on the Gintoki x Hijikata otp, so I was really curious of their actual bromance in the series. Needless to say, I was very disappointed because that's only a bit in the beginning.
The series is very long, and I thought Hijikata and Gintoki would have a closer relationship, but they spend even less time together the more the series progresses. If anything, he could be paired more naturally with Okita, with whom he has a steadier love-hate relationship.
But Harada did such a good job at making me love this couple (without even knowing who they where) with all those doujinshis about them, that I wish she drew them again as original characters of her own so I don't have to compare them to the actual Gintama characters, damn it, lol
Oh same! Harada got me interested in these characters since I never bothered to watch Gintama. I was even thinking of watching the show to see more interactions between them, but that sounds really lame, so I'm good.
I mean, yes, you are going to be disappointed about the couple thing. Hijikata becomes pretty irrelevant by the end, with nothing but his overused mayonnaise-lover gag in stock. Just as a side note, though, I suggest you don't refrain from watching Gintama just for that reason. The comedy wasn't always my cup of tea and I'm not a fan of shonen, but the characters are all very likeable and the openings and endings are great, you can see why it's so praised in the anime community.
Aww thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I've never been interested in watching Gintama, but maybe some day~
