Pretty sure he was rowing for days and maybe farming as well also I think after all this is over they're going to explain all of his masterplan which might explain the time skip. It's quite creative if anything cuz these type of stories gets boring if they repeatedly show monster hunting one after another and I think you don't like the feeling of suspense like I do (￣∇￣")
