why are south Koreans/manhwa writers so... stiff? like 8/10 yaoi/BL manhwas i read are so bland. the art is stiff, the plot devices are cliche, the characters are generic stock images, and everything is just so... boring. like if they're going to have zero buildup at least make the sex somewhat compelling. instead it's lame :/

ah I've been waiting for this update for a while. I absolutely love the art here and the grotesque themes are absolutely fascinating. with the newest chapter, my anticipation for how j and makoto's relationship evolves is increased considerably. especially those few panels at the end with the kiss. makoto will most definitely make a wonderfully dark demon. I hope some love blooms between them though, and their feelings for each other become something more warmer and romantic. I would hate for things to just become more hard hearted

this is copy-pasted from my little review thing: holy fuck this was AMAZINGLY done. the author delves into the psych of a pedophile and his involvement with a child. pulling from a well know fact that it is statistically likely a pedophile was once a victim of sexual child abuse, a realistic and understandable character is created: kei. the same goes for the new victim, yui. they're both fucked in the head with kei being the older one who has experienced a lot more than yui when it came to caving under societal expectations and the disgust a traumatized child victim turned sex offender faces. yui, however, being young and a bit groomed by kei, has an easy going attitude where his obsession with his abuser turned over allows yui to adopt a careless "fuck it" attitude.
imo yui is definitely someone who is more bark than bit. he doesn't feel society's disgust with his relationship with kei as strongly as kei does since kei has already experienced years of this with his parents and anyone who came to know about his chikdhood. but yui is still afraid, in a way, or at the very least cannot bring himself to go through the hassle of truly throwing everything away to be with kei.
at the end, it seems like he ends up taking some pills, likely the medication kei is being prescribed for his anxiety, while muttering about not caring about what his parents think about his relationship.
everything about this story is so fucked up and twisted and SO WELL WRITTEN. the pacing is great and the supplementary characters add so much flavor. mai, the daughter of kei's abuser, has an exceptional and interesting personality. her reaction and how she deals with kei and yui being together is pretty fascinating and understandable. kei's mother, who both loves her son enough to try her best to "cure" him and is disgusted with him so much that she goes as far to force him through painful "treatments" is also quite interesting. in a way, she represents a lot of people in the world who are ignorant to adolescent trauma and the strong and long lasting impact it has on children as they grow into adulthood. his father seems quite done with the whole thing already.
i personally depsise most shota/loli manga/anime since it all ends up boiling down to pedophile fap material and is just gross 2D porn to satisfy some fucked inclinations. but when these topics are written the right way they can be such a good read.
anyone else have thoughts on this? i've ranted out my fair share on what i think is up with this story

I agree that the author did an awesome job with this story. Twisted, yet does not romanticize pedophilia. Rather it makes you uncomfortable, it makes you think... and at the same time it draws you deeper into the story.
... It also made me think as a parent. Would I have treated my child the same way either parents did? This situation (having your child sexually molested) is any parents nightmare - however dealing with the aftermath is like walking on broken glass. I don't think I could do what Kei's mom did - it would worsen, not help the situation (it's as bad as beating up your child after finding out they're gay - I actually had a neighbor who did this).javascript:;

IF I COULD RE-LIKE YOUR COMMENT A THOUSAND TIME. I WOULD. I really wanted to buy the book you know, the story is well written and not a specialized shota manga for fapping materials, it draws you in, and the cover is BEAUTIFUL. This book show us Kei's insecurities and Yui's. Well executed and wonderfully made. My most favorite from all Harada's work (well I love everything Harada makes tho).
seriously, i live for the adorable love between tia and her household. the knights, maids, and her pops doting on her is the cutest fucking thing. also, allen is 100% gonna turn out to be a conniving snake and istg if the prince and tia somehow get together i will actually scream. he's an immature brat. he didn't give a shit about her miscarraige and had the audacity to make her go on her hands and knees and lick his shoe to beg for her father's forgiveness before telling her her dad's fucking dead. like fuck you, doesn't matter if you're bitter or jealous that tia was praised more than you. god i hate him
