Honestly, don't know what people are pissed about. The first chapter already stated that the Spinel are enslaved because the Fels are jealous of their beauty and physique and fear that they will be better than them. Come on, don't know how is that an insult to the blm movement? And also not sure how is this romanticizing slavery? The rich guy literally said he disagrees with this whole system and refused to buy the slave.
Idk if the story will have other problematic elements later on but now I am opening my eyes to look for problems and I found none. It is just a story a reflecting discrimation, insecurities and greed of human kind. The characters are then thrown in this fictional world, and how they deal with this ridiculous situation.
Who brought blm into this?
Slavery is an issue and you cannot tell people who suffer from the lingering effects of slavery how they should take something. Slavery wasn’t that long ago. If people are uncomfortable then fine. And they can say that this does if they want to. Just because you don’t see what they see doesn’t mean something is wrong with them nor their opinion.
It can romanticize slavery. A love story out of humans that are deemed property? That is no longer considered a human? When in reality they had no choice and were r*ped by their oppressors? It’s like saying romanticizing kidnap but on a much larger and more brutal scale.
Being oppressed because of your looks does not make it right or ‘better’. You wouldn’t say a woman deserved to be assaulted because of the way she looks so that that.

Most of us hate on Chan woo or MD, or both. It's because we judge them on their behaviour, not their intentions. We don't know their backstory, their entire though process. THIS. Why the plot is soooooo poorly written other than it's attention to detail and an audience bent on saving it by sheer indulgence. The characters are soooo hollow if you even bother to look at past the pretty veneer.
