For context, I went to an all girls school where most students were homophobic, but there was still a small number of LGBTQ+ students like myself. (We were all closeted tho, except for me and a couple of my friends.) There was also an all boys school opposite of ours, but I'm not too sure about their number of queer students, I do know they were also mainly homophobic. There have been a couple instances of gay friends of mine being asked out by boys from the other school, and instead of accepting the rejection, they would always have the mindset of 'I could turn her straight' and wouldn't give up unless she outwardly said she was dating someone. Like bro, bffr. Even if she was straight, she wouldn't date your ugly ass. The worst part is that they *think* they're being all open minded and accepting, just because they've acknowledged that my friends were gay, but in actuality, didn't actually respect that. Like MC's coworker, they basically just boiled it down to some weird thing that they could fetishise.

They still have issues after establishing their relationship (ofc or otherwise there wouldn't be much of a reason to keep writing) and so many people blame Joon for "not communicating" but it's 100% Doha's fault imo, because he's always been a passive POS like this and Joon could never rely on him because Doha never took into account his emotions or made a space for him to be emotionally vulnerable so naturally Joon would close himself off!
I hate Dami with a fiery passion, but regardless of what Dami said or did, it was Doha who hurt Joon by not being there for him
