I certainly agree with you. I came back to re-read this and I got frustrated and annoyed at Deguchi. I get both sided because at some point, I too had an unrequited crush on my bestfriend for 7 long years except that I atleast made an effort, I was honest, I confessed, got rejected multiple times until I finally let go. But never have I ever forced them to like me right away because I know things just don't work that way. You can't just change your preferences or magically fall in love the moment someone you knew loved you for a long time. In fact, that gives them even more of a burden because they'll feel guilty for not knowing and maybe hurting you unintentionally. That hurts them too you know.
The thing is mostly are siding with Deguchi because he seemed pitiful but my goshh you also don't know the struggle of the other side. Though I'm glad both of them sorted it out at the end and apologized to each other for their faults. That's a start to solidify their relationship.
Also I have never onced thought of just giving my body to anyone or worse different people when my heart belonged to someone else. That's just against everything that I stand for so I think it's about the difference in morals.
