While it is true that men go to jail because of a wrongful accusation, who do you think set that system up? Patriarchy according to Snider Naomi (International Psychoanalytical Association, 2018) stated that patriarchy is a set of cultural and values that specify how men and women should behave and this is based on the belief that men have the inherent right to dominate, while women should be subservient. A crime committed by four boys everyday on an innocent young girl named Junko Furuta, a prime example of a woman rejecting a man which led to her death that prolonged for 44 days for that decision. In November 25, 1988 Junko Furuta cycled home when she was knocked her bike and kidnapped to be followed with rape, torture, and murder. It was recorded that Junko was raped 400 times by the 4 men all because she said no. And despite this the boys remained innocent, it was only after a long trial that they were charged with their crimes. The main perpetrator received 20 while the other 3 boys received 5-10 years (Vocal Media, 2023). Aside from that heavy crime committed by boys, there's a lot of examples of patriarchy in society from gender pay gap, underrepresentation of women in leadership positions, and the prevalence of gender-based violence, sexism. There are more things I want to mention about how women have greatly suffered by the hands of men and these cruel dominance. Honestly, those that don't believe it exists are either ignorant, privileged, an a**hole, or just so far into the effects of patriarchy that they're blind to it. Even if we are much better off than the women all those years ago, we continue to face the same issues that still hurt us in todays day and age. We're honestly regressing on so many levels that it's depressing... The sad reality is that many women are unsafe out there because of men. There's no victim mentality when it happens every single day around us and has women fearing if they will even get home safe at night. Refusing to believe it exists is just pure ludicrous.
