I'm amazed at how mangaka-san managed to turn what I expected to be a basic bl into something so enjoyable and precious! The characters were all so intriguing and his besties snatched my heart!!
Also regarding his toxic behavior– that was middle school, before he had matured enough to handle his feelings and behavior properly. I KNOW y'all made mistakes and stupid or toxic decisions in middle school and I'm sure you wouldn't want that to come back and prevent you from having a good relationship now or later. People grow up, Subaru was over it and understanding and we should be too.
I guess the context made me really look at the relationship differently in the second story– regarding the underage sex. Having sex with adolescents as soon as they hit puberty or even before was very common practice in many cultures many years ago, not that it was okay. But the fact that it's a fictional, mythical type story with historical context and an ageless God who isn't some kind of predator, but a non-human deity with no real sense of human age or morality just made it all seem much less viscious than people seem to think it was.
Exactly. Aside from that, it's not like the deity had sex with him predatorily. They just had sex because they were forced to (the deity's power relied on it and the people forces the deity to have sex with any sacrifice, and he's effing weak to fight back (for reasons unknown); and the child would die without communion with the deity).
I won't deny that the story had child rape, but the deity isn't a pedo, and the blame shouldn't be put on him. It should be put on the people who abused them.
Smh, this is like the other manga I read where readers were unnecessarily hating on the "seme" (an extra character, but he was the seme during the scene) when he was forced to have sex with the uke by some bullies.
Rape isn't black and white y'all. It's possible that both sides are offenders and victims, it's possible that both sides are victims and the offender is a third party (though ofc in legal terms, that person wouldn't be referred to as the rapist).
I'm so happy with his character development. For a good while there, Byul was the biggest reason I kept reading (I got attached to that precious baby, somehow) but seeing him actually try to be a better person, actually admit his love, and actively try to heal the trauma he's had so that he doesn't pass it on makes me heart so happy and so proud of him.

That was all over the place and so sloppy and confusing...I honestly can't say I liked anything more than the art at this point?
