No joke, this made me feel empty. Like, the good kind of empty where you don't know what to do with your life afterwards, so you just sit in the darkness of your bedroom at 6am and pretend like you didn't just read 10 chapters of peak. And you can't tell anyone because you suck at retelling the story in a way that conveys the same depth of emotions that you felt when reading this and you can't tell them to read it because they're not into manga in general, so you're stuck feeling these feelings all by yourself until someone replies to your comment and tells you "me too".

Eckles is just so pitiful. I still hate him and disagree with what he did, but his begging made me feel so bad for him. His thought process was that because Penelope looked past all his wrongdoings and ignored all the red flags, she would forgive him for such a betrayal. But he was so wrong, and the fact that he didn't know what he did wrong made it FEEL like he was a child who didn't know any better.
I mean, he was a noble from a fallen kingdom and then he became a slave; something like that can have a huge effect on a person's mental well being. (Not to mention physical, because he was starved and abused for a good portion if his life.) Obviously, something happened to him and his desires became twisted and toxic. But it's just so sad to see it happen. I really thought that he was going to be it for Penelope, but HE was the rotten rope. Ugh, it's all so frustrating. (And the fact that everyone who belittled him for being a slave, including Penelope's family, was just so ugh. Like, hello?? This is a human being? It just pissed me off.)
Omg, and the reveal that Ivonne was dead the whole time and was just a puppet was so heartbreaking for me. I'm not sure about you guys, but I didn't think Ivonne was going to be a bad guy, so I never held any hatred against her. But to hear that she was dead the whole time was just so sad. That was the duke's daughter. A real person who had gotten lost at a young age, probably thinking that someday, she'd reunite with her family. But that obviously never happened, and she died without a goodbye to her family??? Ugh, it was like a stab to my heart.
And the relationship between Castillo and Penelope?? That red wasn't a warning sign, it was a symbol for Castillo's burning passion. Deep and meaningful passion. Their shared moments with just the two of them throughout the story were so impactful and beautiful. And the way he kissed her after confessing that he would do anything for her to wake up and be by his side was just perfect. The artist and author sure are amazing when it comes to heartfelt moments.

I agree with everything u wrote, and that ending with callisto gave me goosebumps… like their relationship has been the most real because she was never actively trying to gain his favor. She thought he was a lost cause to begin with so their moments became all the more real… and her hoping that his affection wouldn’t be high so she could run away from the fact that they’re in love hurts so good!! Every “romance” option honestly feels so thoughtfully written. Like with eckles, her affection was calculating and selfish, and in return his ending was cold and selfish just like their entire relationship!
And it really is so sad that Yvonne died alone, and then had her body possessed by a monster… using her for evil. It’s really so sad, but so well written.

I thought I was gonna get hate if I didn't put the "I hate Eckles", but I'm glad you agree with me. I actually don't hate him at all, the only part I disagreed with was when he brought home Yvonne. Other than that, he's too pitiful to hate on. Penelope lowk was evil for that.
And I totally agree that their relationships were well written. You could FEEL what Penelope was feeling. The betrayal, the happy times, all of it.
I'm gonna need more of chapter 7 plsss
