His whole past life, which is heartbreaking and love for maxi.
He literally think her health is bad and she can easily get sick :( and he think she lived like a princess.
so now he’s overprotective and wants her to do nothing other than lazying around
And in his mind why she wants to be a magician because his lacking and can’t provide
He’s seriously misunderstood

oh my god thank you for explaining why he didnt want her learning magic. i actually had no idea and that makes sense that he also feels insecure.
i wish the author gave more of his perspective because as of now he's so bland and we know really nothing of his history and feelings.

Well of course you know.. It's part of the story's twist and turn later on.. We won't have this kind of suspense or climax if we lay it all out immediately in the open.. Everything will fall into places at the right time.. We really just just have to be patient. Even in the novel, it's a painful cliffhanger every time, but that's the beauty in it. When they both grow of this, I bet this is gonna be so worth it!

Now i haven't read the spoiler, but its not hard to tell that Riftan has his own baggage to sort thru. The whole constantly buying her jewels and clothes "fit for a Lady" always felt like he was insecure/ overcompensating because he felt he had married above his station, and wanted to prove that he could provide for her like he imagined a nobleman would.

Of course he has baggage, everyone does. Even Maxi have been in constant self-loathing because of hers. But from what I see and know, the man had known the lady since childhood. Thought that she has had a fragile constitution and is very much "adored" by her father. Understanding that, he wanted nothing but lavish and comfort of life for Maxi. Yes, he had thought of Maxi must have been in a more happy life if only she had wed a nobleman, but it doesn't mean he is insecure of what he has become. He might have overly put Maxi on a pedestal because of his knowledge of how housed the lady was, but never once have I seen him done this to satisfy his manly pride of telling the world she deserves him more than anyone. He is only doing so purely wanting Maxi to live a peaceful, lavish may be, but above all comfort life.

If you’re hoping for a good communication between them in the future…sadly your not gonna find it.
There’s a kinda of communication in book 2 (maybe in the next 2 years of the manhwa)
BUT it’s not that communication, not the type makes you clap your hands and scream YEAH BABY
It’s just the type that you say ”really? that’s all you two gonna say? Or scream about?”
cause they will solve their problem with sex *I know shocking* and screaming at each other

I agree and disagree. there are communication here and there and they both learn to be more open with each other. for starters maxi do talk about her insecurities after Riftan catches her father abusing her and Riftan also talks about how he always liked her before she knew him. book 2 starts kinda rough but the current chapters are really adorable and they are both learning to communicate and trust each other.
needless to say, I believe this story is amazing because it's realistic, both these characters have deep scars and they have to overcome their trauma. we see a lot of romantic stories in which the ML completely changes after they fell in love. some people may be looking for that and this book isn't for them. so yes for those who are looking for a 180 character improvement this isn't the right story.
