A lot of people hate Eunhan with a burning passion, and honestly, I get it. The hatred makes sense, he’s raped, coerced, manipulated, and treated Han-gyul like shit in public. And let’s not forget the biggest thing, he literally altered Han-gyul’s entire fate. In one day, Han-gyul went from being a famous child actor with his soulmate, to a nobody…all thanks to Eunhan. On the surface, he’s a pure piece of shit.
But what about the layers behind it? It was his uncle who first manipulated him (a very young kid) to go into that cave, purely out of jealousy. And that uncle was still a kid himself…so yes, a villain, but also a literal child. Then there’s the salvation spirit, the real big bad here, who manipulated Eunhan into cutting and reattaching Han-gyul’s string. On top of that, Eunhan as an adult literally gets hypnotized to “not feel” or to “not care,” because his emotions are too overwhelming, he is trained into becoming emotionally constipated.
Now, I’m not asking anyone to forgive him. Heewon is clearly the top tier man here. He’s better than Eunhan in every way, from looks to personality. Personally, I’d love to see Heewon x Jaeyoon (since that’s what Heewon wanted). But if author decides to go the Heewon x Han-gyul route, I’ll respect the hell out of it. At the end of the day, I’m putting my faith in the author’s direction.

Is it just me, or is Taekjoo looking lighter this season? At first I blamed the embassy lighting the past three chapters, but even this chapter he’s a couple shades paler. Give me back my chocolate Taekjoo.
Don’t call me a pervert, but Taekjoo’s nipples used to be brown. Why are they pink now, what kinda bleaching did he get during the season break?

Every time Heewon and Jae-yoon are together, they bicker like an old married couple and then have the audacity to say they don’t like each other. Also, fuck that red string nonsense. Their bond feels real without fate forcing it, which honestly makes it stronger than any fated connections. I really hope they’re endgame.
I swear the antidote to Imae poison is gonna be something dumb like Imae cum or spit, since it’s supposed to be found in their body. This black martial cunt was on the verge of death and now he’s magically fine, just because he had sex and kissed.
Spoiler
Its his horns
So…has he been licking and biting his horn during sex? Like, how does that even work?
Spoiler
So according to the novel, there will be a point will the emperor is on the verge of death, and mc saves him… willingly..
++ the writing isnt bad at all, it will take a while but you will eventually come to understand the depth and complexity of their connection
Oh, there’s a novel! Who does he end up with? Is Raonhiljo dead for real? Does he ever get a name, and if so, what is it?
Personally, I find it a little dumb so far. There’s not much depth or sense to what’s happening. The Black Martial cunt’s cruelty hasn’t been explained at all yet. Still, I want to like this so badly, I really love the fantasy setup.
I suggest you read the novel it has more context and a lot of it isn’t shown in the webtoon. The writing was really good, but I didn’t like the ending it was open ended. MC did return to the palace but it left me hanging wanting more.
I’ll check out the novel, thanks for the reply. The premise is pretty interesting. Personally, I like endings that are left open to interpretation, especially with highly problematic stories. It suits the reader’s perspective better. A straightforward “happy ending” usually just makes people angrier.
You’re right, that’s what I meant: the ending suited the story. It’s just that it ended right when their love was about to bloom. But you’re also correct, the story wasn’t meant to be fluffy but toxic, so adding a fluffy ending wouldn’t fit the premise.
100%, exactly this
It's not really open ended though?

He did end up with the emperor. It's just not the usual happy ending in romance stories.
Plus he even accepted the name the emperor thought for him (Which he found out by mistake)
What happens to Raonhiljo at the end?
There's no use to finding a reason to his cruelty, he's just the way he is. While it was never explicitly stated he's sorta like a psychopath/sociopath, in any case he was just born that way. He will never repent for what he did because he doesn't feel anything towards his actions, his violence is just like killing an ant or something. The only time he ever really feels some sort of emotion is with the mc that's why he's obsessed with him. Personally, I really liked the novel because it felt like a true enemies-to-lovers situation, and even at the end their relationship wasn't really perfect.
I expected maybe an Imae or some other magical tribe had done something to him, giving him a reason to hate them. But this just feels sad that there’s no real reason behind his cruelty.
It's not sad, and really its one of the best aspect of this work. Often times authors like to force a redemption arc on the male lead to make him more likeable for the audience, but that's not the case here. The villain is a villain, the narrative doesn't try to justify his acts.
I find it sad when an irredeemable rapist, genocidal maniac, psychopath ends up with the main character falling in love with them. Maybe it’s a perspective thing, but I can’t see the beauty in psychos staying psychos.
