Honestly I don’t hate the ML in this manhwa.-. I mean they killed his wife so that his son wouldn’t be born and now he had to marry the daughter of the man who probably killed his wife, I wouldn’t have treated her lovingly either.-. Now if he knew she would die and that she was someone who would just be replaced by the real Veronica but didn’t do anything about it, that changes things for sure.-. I don’t think he did tho, so I don’t dislike him
uh yeah I read some spoilers from the novel and I am not going to waste my time reading this.-. Typical Mc who acts kinda badass but then falls for the douche ML who treats her like shit but oh he’s pitiful, has a sad past, is handsome, and then starts acting sweet afterwards so of course I’ll forgive him._. Idk how he shows his remorse but I’m betting it was a shitty attempt that was probably only “I’m sorry boohoo look at my sad face I love you” or whatever, I’m not going to put myself through that stress.-. If he actually repented with actual suffering on his part and ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED (cus literally no shitty ml’s ever apologize in manhwas like ever, I’ve only seen a few) then ok maybe.-. Lucio was disappointed in her because originally if Rosemond pregnant he could just get rid of Petronilla naturally without using underhanded method, but Rosemond gave him an excuse that she is impatient and Lucio already promised her the empress seat so she thought it doesn't matter using whatever method and ask him to save her but Lucio said 'even though he is an Emperor, he can always have his way, he can't go against the nobles' so Rosemond take off her clothes and ask him to sleep with her so she can have his baby since a woman pregnant with imperial heir can't be punished by law and he is sleep with her just like that cause no matter what she is the woman he once so deeply in love with. HA! He is much much worse than Sovieshit.

Yes, he believed that he loved her, but I don’t think he regarded petronilla as villainess because after her death he kept having nightmar about her like he did about his mother
I'm just saying that as a metaphor. He and Rosemond had sad past, but they can't be together because of difference in status, they think they are some kind of victim in a tragic love story, and whoever get in their way become the villain, and Petronilla was in love with Lucio and she can't hide her jealousy so. In fact, during Lucio nightmare, Petronilla ask him 'are you happy now, you regarded me as a thorn who get in your way with Rosemond, now that you get rid of me you must be very happy' and Lucio answered 'Yes, I'm very happy'.
Lucio suffered from nightmare, but when he learn the truth that Petronilla was innocent and Rosemond was the one behind everything, he didn't even get angry at her.
