aria knows this too and she's fine with what her mom does. she sees her as her own individual and not like as much like a mom. aria doesn't really know what familiar love is and even in the end she's still really awkward about family in general. they do have mutual respect and i'm sure they care for each other...maybe not the normal type of way but the mom has aria's best interest in mind and she really would like aria to be married to a greater person (that's why she was mad the duke tried pairing aria with ran lmao) .

They just let each other live their life
She (mom) was busy making ends meet and trying to better their life which is why she never really got to dote on Aria (and I think being Aria her first child contributes to the carefree parenting too).
Carin didn't really care much about hierarchy. She really just wanted a better life and out of the poverty.

i don't disagree with you either! i didn't mean to make her sound money obsessed but she did have moments after she found out aria knew the prince where she felt really proud about it and also how she made sure to take all the dukes possessions for herself, she really enjoys her luxurious life but she never did anything bad to try to scale higher.
I feel like Aria and her mom have a pretty realistic relationship considering everything that happened to them. Aria is very mature for her age, and this comes with being reborn and also her life before becoming a noble. Because of this she has a relationship similar to a grown adult and their parent instead of a more juvenile type of love.
Aria's mom also clearly cares for her, because she could've easily left Aria behind when she married the duke like a lot of other stories. I think that her mom has a materialistic view of things sometimes because she came from a very poor background and now that she has wealth she doesn't want herself or her family to lose that. I bet that Aria being with the Prince was a relief to her, she doesn't have to worry about her daughter's well-being when she's gone.
