Actually I looked into it and apparently most of this is historical. The girl who got thrown in the river, if she existed it didn't mention it or her death.

I like the oldest son, I think he is acting like anyone would after all the weirdos asking them for money like that. The "housekeeper"'s personality is really nice, I love the flamboyant type of character.
