The BS hits close to home since I have similar parents and they would rather say stuffs like « we didn’t know how to handle you » rather than admit they are toxic people
She wasn't abused her mother cut of her hair because she was angry. She never starved her, neglected her, or beat her so that isn't abuse.
The definition of abuse is not limited to physical agression and letting one’s starve. If that’s what you think, then that downplays all the others types of abuse (such as psychological) and their victims.

Finally, when it comes to the mother cutting Mc’s hair, that is not the only reason why I talked about « abuse », I took all of her actions into consideration. Even though, this scene definitely shows the signs of an abusive behavior and « being angry » is never a good reason.
Ok stop cause we missing a huuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggge chunk of her life to begin with and if you go back and see how they greet each other there is no way she was abused. Fl felt upset that she was kept out of the loop and that her mother didn't like her being a magician and that her father was hardly there but that about it. we honestly dont know anything from age 7ish - 17.......
We don’t decide whether or not someone was abused by the way they greet their potential abusor, that is not a reliable proof.
I am judging the mother on the scenes from Mc’s childhood. We have a timeline of how the mother educated her child and it’s pretty clear. We can make our assumptions because that’s the purpose of these flashbacks. And if you say that these are not enough for us to think that Mc was mistreated, then you can’t say for sure that she was not either.
We see flashbacks for when she was like 0 - 3 years old. and all we see is her mom struggling to take care of her, there was absolutely no mistreatment.
If you were a child of an unhealthy parent, you'd know that whatever hurts the kids mentally is abuse. It may seem trivial, but it leaves scars that may not be treated properly even when the hild grows up.

I read a (good) translation in another language and let me tell you the main reason why the characters’ actions don’t make sense is because of bad translation. For example, the mc’s inner monologue (that enable us to understand his intentions) is mistranslated. There is also a missing scene in a chapter.
Some people just don’t care about who translate projects - whether it is the original scan team or not - and read whatever come. And I would understand that to some extent if the current translator was doing a good job respecting the author’s intents and the thoughts she puts into her work. But it’s not the case. Reading this, you feel like this manhwa turned into a typical shitty BL with inconsistent characterization and an uke that accepts too much shit from the seme. BUT the original work is more subtle than that. Yet nobody can understand shit with this translation anyway ╮(￣▽￣)╭ My point is this matter is not just about respecting the original scan team anymore but also respecting the author’s writing!! Put you in her shoes for a second: her work is illegally translated in a way that makes it look shitty.... (imagine yourself publishing a good novel but then someone translate it into a wattpad nonsense fiction lmao)

FYI, chapters are often uploaded by bots from an hosting site to another! It’s basic knowleadge for most scanlators and regular online manga readers. Hence the current translator’s note comes off as disingenuous / uninformed (or dumb).
